OMG Symo is out of the rest of the CB series as he is going to have a surgery. He is also in doubt for for early phase of the world cup its a really big blow to the aussies. Symo is really a very important player for australia and i hope he has a speedy recovery.

According to sportal Hogg isn't in the team tomorow, and neither is Bracken. If they're indeed correct, i'd expect Lee & Tait to open the bowling. This might well be Hodge's last chance to cement a spot in the WC line-up. If he fails here, it'll be interesting to see if they stick with him in the finals series with Symonds out.
I was thinking last chance for good.

Gutted about Symonds, hope he makes a lightning fast recovery. Also hope Hodge gets another chance although he doesn't really deserve one, it's probably just the nerves. Any news on tomorrows side? Looks like it's going to be a cracker, as does the game on Tuesday, can't wait.

McGrath rested tomorrow, Hodge in the middle order and Lee and Ponting back. No news about Johnson, so it may be Clark and Bracken who make up the rest of the attack. Tait stays in the team as expected.

No Hogg, obviously.

Yeah, as much as Symonds' big mouth gets on my nerves at times, he's one of the top ODI batsmen in the world and probably the top fielder as well. If he misses the World Cup, the tournament will be the poorer for it.

This has probably been one of the better Tri-Series tournaments I have seen. With all the talk about its apparently 'one sideness', there really has only one game which has been completely dominated by Australia and that was the Australia Day game

The results of the Australian games have been
Aus by 8 wkts
Aus by 105 runs
Aus by 4 wkts
Aus by 2 wkts
Aus by 9 wkts
Aus by 8 runs
Eng by 92 runs

Three of those wins were quite close infact, games which Australia could of easily lost. It seems to me that after the first 2 games, Australia haven't been anywhere near their best at all. Either their Batting and Bowling has failed in every game after that bar the Aussie Day game, in which case, England never bothered to turn up. In those close ones, (4wkts, 2wkts and 8runs), one element of their game has been very good, while the other was very mediocre.

And in Friday's game, both the batting and bowling performances were extremely substandard. I thought that England and Australia had swapped shirts.

With Symonds out, and the Aussies in very average form indeed, the remainder of the Tri-Series is going to be very interesting to say the least, and hopefully, Australia pick themselves up, because in the state they are in, not many people will say this, but they might just be in a bit of strife.

Thats my 2 cents today.

losing symonds is definitely a big blow for the aussies; i guess u have to hope that he makes a speedy rrecovery!

If he doesnt make the WC, who would replace him?

Brad hogg bowled well in adelaide, the selectors can't seriously think of taking 6 pacemen hoggy has to go to the windies, even if he doesn't play there.
Voges for white.
I would take brad hodge he is in good form he will make runs evcentually, and he is by far the best player in domestic cricket,he can field and bowl too.
Voges bowled well today too.
If symmo is out voges would be the best replacement, hoepfully its in symmo in voges in and white out.

Yeah, White out, Hogg in. We need a 'specialist' spinner, and although White is good with the bat, he simply isnt showing it and he isn't bowling much at all, so what is his purpose in the team. After all, Hogg is no slouch with the bat, and it has bemused me all tri-series why he is being constantly overlooked.

Hodge may be a good domestic ODI player, but at International level, he hasn't cut it. He should be given one more chance, and if he fails that, then that is it, banished.

Plunkett spell was his best in an England shirt no doubt, swung it beautifully & looked a treat almost every ball he bowled, i have always been a defender of the bloke & it was brilliant to see him in action. I'm sure TEC & Richard two of his biggest critics on CW would.

On Dalrymple good to see him playing a bit of a cameo at the end, i was starting to the feeling that he was being wasted coming in @ 7/8 & that he was being a bit of waste in the XI, but now that he has showed he can bat like that in the late overs, that is a added bonus to ODI side.

On Australia very bad to hear Symo is out, just get fit for the WC, can't imagine Australia not having him in the ODI side, but in the mean time it gives someone like Hodge a chance to do what he has done for Lancashire & Victoria in Australia ODI colours & probably even give White a chance to bat up the order.

Plunkett's figures were incredible really, given how every other seamer who bowled a proper spell (ie longer than 4 overs) got taken for 5 an over. The seam position with the ball to Gilchrist was Simon Jones-esque. If he performs against NZ I think Fletcher would favour him over Lewis for the World Cup.

Voges averages close to 40 for the season, hardly figures that jump up and say pick me. I watched the SA vs WA match and wasnt convinced with Hogg's performance. His figures of 1/39 off 9.1 overs hardly scream out to the selectors and say pick me.

I reckon that we'll stuff it up. We seem to do that alot.

Well, that is unless Bond does a Bond. In that case, we have a fair chance.
