That was a brilliant throw there from Clarke. Great awareness to go to Gilchrist instead of McGrath.

Anyway, not a bad over for England. Up above 275 now.

Damn, dropped catches are playing a huge part this summer. In results, in careers, in making me not want to watch games where the catching is more pedestrian than my own.

Tait's bowled rubbish at the death, 2 wickets or not. That's unforgiveable bowling IMO.
Yeah, wasn't anything special. Reminded me a bit of Lee's death bowling a few years ago. Too many short and length balls rather than just keeping it as full as possible. I suppose the fact that the ball wasn't reversing and Joyce belted a half volley for four played on his mind a bit.

7/292, aside from getting 300, they couldn't ask for more from this innings.

Now it is up to the bowlers

Australia paying 1.50, England 2.50.

Looking at England's bowling line-up, I reckon Australia are a fair bet.

Yeah why not just bowl more yorkers? Of course then if they get it wrong it does become a low full toss, but then that is something it can be practiced on.

The thing is, Lee's often good at the death, because his angles aren't all over the (wrong) place like Tait's. Tait might as well throw the ball at the boundaries himself the way he lets them help it on its way.

With a little more control he might make a good test strike bowler, as it stands I'd only play him at the MCG with no ropes and the outfield slanting up in every direction.

Bopara wasn't showing any cricketing awareness in that run-out. Dalrymple was smooshing them, give him the strike for the next over to continue in similar fashion.

Some days bouncers at the death will work, others they won't. So little margin for error at that pace though, a number of the boundaries wouldn't have been scored off someone 10km/h slower.
