Wotcha. I realise the requests for strategy help are coming thick and fast, but I thought I'd chime in, now I've gotten over the shock of finding myself in Div VI for no reason this morning. Firstly, thanks again for all the help at the start; I'm really quite happy with how my squad's going due in large part to the good advice I received here, and am aiming at 3rd/4th this season in my (admittedly fairly non-threatening) div V. Here's my current first XI:

I'm sort of worried that I'm concentrating too much on the first three trainees (my plan at present is to give Bromby an extra batting net once Pead pops to respectable in about 4/5 weeks). I was vaguely considering spreading the nets around more; giving all of the nippers (Janes, Bromby, Pead and Oleary) one primary and field or wk net each, and have two stamina fixing nets. But at the moment the temptation of having my first strong player is proving too much for me to think that long-term. What do you guys reckon?

Fairly sensible, really. However, I do have a couple of suggestions...

Stamina
This can be trained up at any age, so it's a bit of a waste getting young players to high levels - Respectable or Comp looks to be enough.

Fielding
I've found that this increases pretty much on a par with the primaries, at least with one primary net (which is what most of my players have been getting over the last couple of seasons...admittedly, that was for 19-21yo's). Unless you're concerned about actually training fielding, these could be the first to go - you'll get a better return in terms of secondaries if you slap your fielding nets on your trainees next season...or even the season after.


This season, concentrate on the primaries - that's what I'd do for 17-18yo's, anyway. Don't know how much cash you have, but you could easily free up 2 nets (possibly 3) to devote to a 5th trainee - just get a 17yo with secondaries slightly higher than his primaries.

You'd then have a good core of young players, initially double-netted, who'll improve continually over the next 3 seasons.

So basically, plan is obviously to get some young batting trainees, one a WK. I'm looking to trade Viduka once he's Strong-Mediocre for a F or FM of similar skill, and at the end of the season I plan to hopefully sell Pryde and sit on some money in my V league until I have enough to buy a Bowling all-rounder for my move back up to IV. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

I was tossing up with who to give that spare net to. When I buy a WK/batsman when Viduka pops, I'll need the free net anyway, so I was thinking maybe another stamina net as I was planning on trying to push the majority of my starting squad from Mediocre to Competent before FC comes in.

Interesting. Yeah, I probably have been giving too much significance to the secondaries, I guess in part because I figured they were a cheaper boost in terms of wages, but at this level I s'pose that's pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Cheers; think I'll go looking for a new trainee in a few weeks when the initial mad rush has died down.

Quadeer 1 batting(halfway to strong, Finish when he pops to strong)

Batting Trainee

This guy will get two nets till Quadeer pops to strong.

Must be 17.

Aim for a Competent/Fee/Fee or Comp/Med/Med and if you get one of these in the first stage put 1 bat,1field. And when Quadeer pops to Strong put the fitness net on.

Overall your batting seems to be a very weak link atm and you need to buy a few makeshift players with decent primary's and secondary's at the moment you are taking the secondary's rule to the extreme with that woe/rem just ridicoulas and will never do any good unless he had a higher primary.

I've decided to change my training program as i think Jeithoon is the key and i've got everyone else to a decent level. So these are my Nets:

Jeithoon: 2 Batting, 1 Fielding & 1 Stamina/Keeping
Muralitharan: 1 Batting, 1 Bowling
Ellis: 1 Batting
Quintin: 1 Batting
Clatyon/Ferrier: 1 Batting
Sishayi/Sisk: 1 Bowling

ATM Dowdall got Jeithoon fielding net as a bowling net until he pops to strong, which should be a couple weeks time, a month at the longest. Sisk is going to get Jeithoon stamina/fielding net as bowling net until he pops to superb, which should be at the end of the season.

I think i need another all rounder, so after i get 2 mil in bank im going to sell Ferrier and Dowdall and try an get a quality bowling all rounder. Hopefully someone like say Canning's standard. I probably not going to buy this guy until i finish training Clayton and Ellis, so i have nets free.

You have to remember that a decent level now won't be a decent level in 2-3 seasons. I wouldn't focus so much training on Jeithoon, he's hardly any better than several other trainees you've got there. I would also suggest selling one of Sisk/Sishayi instead of Dowdall because you've got too many trainees (and most of them are deficient in stamina, cons or both so it's not a case of leave them on one net and forget about it) and you'll get more money for them obviously even tho they're both effectively rubbish with their consistency.

@PY Just have to keep being patient really while this current crop mature, I would sell Carey when he pops to superb, you'll probably be able to get 2m even tho he's basically crap. I would just keep saving money up til you can buy someone to elevate your team above the norm.

You have to remember that a decent level now won't be a decent level in 2-3 seasons. I wouldn't focus so much training on Jeithoon, he's hardly any better than several other trainees you've got there. I would also suggest selling one of Sisk/Sishayi instead of Dowdall because you've got too many trainees (and most of them are deficient in stamina, cons or both so it's not a case of leave them on one net and forget about it) and you'll get more money for them obviously even tho they're both effectively rubbish with their consistency.

The reason why i think Jeithoon is the key for me is that his three levels higher then my other trainees at the same age. But its going to be a while until i can give him another two nets, so re-evaluate it then.

I know my players secondaries and stamina are very poor, but with secondaries there not much you can do. Cus even with a fielding net its not going to improve that fast unless you have it long term IMO. With stamina on the other hand it is something that i can work on, with Jeithoon's possible fitness/keeping net. I'm likely to share it around to atleast get all my main players up to mediocre stamina, then respectable.

The plan to improve my secondaries is just to continually upgrade. Once i finish training Sishayi, Sisk and Ferrier they will all be sold for players with a lot better secondaries hopefully. Ferrier will be sold first as he should finish first. Its seems you get a lot better value for your money for uber players with very good secondaries then say superb or below players.

I could be going down the wrong track, but thats my thinking ATM.

I would want to get a bowling net on Islam and Verma getting a bowling net wouldn't be a bad thing either, but you can go either way on that one. Three batting nets on Abdul Kadir is overkill, the third one will hardly contribute. Given how bad your current wickie is and how 4 of your bowlers are rabbits you could do with a wicket-keeper who can bat. You can either buy one which will cost you a fair bit and then you'd probably need to upgrade again a few seasons later. Another option is to turn Abdul Kadir into your wicket-keeper. With one wicket-keeping net he'd be respectable in a couple of seasons (he'd be 21), unless he's high woeful to start with. It would be a long-term commitment but since you're obviously going all out to make him into a gun player that's not a problem. If you put him on say 2 bat, 1 w/k for 4 seasons he'd be about miraculous-masterful batting, superb/quality wicket-keeping.
