Yeah, I thought that might be it. And it seems to be working well for you. I haven't really experimented with orders as much as I should've; I've tended to set players according to their personal temperament, more out of laziness than anything else. Going to be thinking about it a bit more closely this season.

But yeah, I'd say that against a stronger batting lineup on a flat pitch, defensive orders are very sensible. You're not likely to bowl me out, so you might as well dry up the runs. I'd hope that they'll hit out in time to make the score (particularly because your fast bowler was looking a bit knackered by the end of his first spell), but this is much closer than I like to see.

Re: the fast bowler (Laws, was it?); I dunno if someone else can confirm this, but I found if a fastish bowler is lacking in stamina, making sure they don't bowl more than 5 overs in a spell seems to help a bit so they don't get quite so tired. A 7-over spell first up might be a bit too taxing for the poor guy perhaps?

I wouldn't worry - you'll probably win in the end.

Your last point is a good one - my bowlers all have **** stamina. Will probably revert to sets of 5 from now on.

While he's getting on a bit, it might almost be worth giving Laws a stamina net for a bit if you can spare it to get him up to competent or thereabouts, unless you've got an obvious replacement trainee coming through. He seems to have a bit of batting going for him, which could be handy. I'm very conscious of the length of my tail, and he certainly added a decent amount to your score just through sticking around, as well as his personal 26.

Just been flicking through the Q&A log, a quick summary:

1. A banner will be added to Hattrick advertising Battrick in the near future, after the recode is finished.
2. No plans to change the youth system.
3. Allan didn't dimiss the possiblity of changing the FC games to 120 overs per day.
4. FC orders will have a safety mechanism to prevent teams declaring for 1.
5. Groundsmen will become more important as some point.
6. Allan will talk to the FG about deliberate relegation/throwing playoffs.
7. Allan will recruit some coding assistants once the rewrite is complete.
8. Allan likes the idea of random cup draws.
9. The five season dual-nationality rule (whatever this is?) will hopefully come in this season.
10. Some of the FC bowling orders code may be shifted into the OD game if it works correctly.
11. The Twenty20 will definitely happen this season. It should have happened last season, but Allan couldn't access the server.
12. Player form will soon be implemented.
13. Allan will investigate how the Man of the Match award works.
14. More bowlers for OD games will come in in the near future.
15. Allan will look into some sort of automatic batting training, reducing the number of sides with all-worthless tails.
16. The pitch display bug will soon be fixed.
17. International fixtures will follow the same pattern as before.
18. Morale for international teams will be looked into.
19. Battrick merchandise will be launched at some point.
20. Team fitness and TIE/PAN/GFI may be removed from the international game.
