Won my cup match quite easierly in the end.

N88 XI 221 All Out Jeithoon 4/30(8.4), Dowdall 3/46(8), Muralitharan 1/25(10)

Jaffna Jets 2/222 (36.4) Clayton 105(100), Ellis 67*(72), Quintin 45(46)

Ratings on PAN:

Top: Respectable
Middle: Competent
Lower: Abysmal
Seam: Competent
Spin: Competent
Fielding: Woeful

Very happy with the performance of the whole team. Muralitharan bowled really well and got their best batsmen out for 26 (17k wages). Thats the 3rd time this season his got the best batsmen from the other team out. A really tight spell that took the game away from them as well. Jeithoon and Dowdall just rolled their lower order.

Once again we chased down the total at six an over, again the 3rd time this season we did that. Clayton got his first ever hundred in a cup/league match. In the last three weeks his increased his highest score each week. Maybe he'll score 150 next match.

Hopefully i get a beatable Div 2 side next week and have a 3rd seamer of some note.

I'm thinking about selling Groves. Once again today he was slaughtered (1-52 from just 8) against anything resembling a decent batting line-up. He'll do the Job easy in Div 5, but atm it seems inevitable that i'll be promoted to Div 4 again next season, and i really can't afford to have one of my bowlers consistently going for 5+ rpo (as he has done against anything barring Div 5 teams).

Judging by the market atm, would i be correct in saying that i could get anywhere between 800k to 1.2m for him? If i could get that amount, it would allow me to then upgrade my stadium, and then look at purchasing another bowler later in the season.

Thoughts?

Lloyd Groves (893963)
RH Batsman, RF Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A steady player with competent leadership skills and woeful experience.

Plays For: Clapo's XI
Nationality: England
Age: 19 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 8,288
Wages: £1,940 p/w

Stamina: feeble Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: woeful Concentration: woeful
Bowling: strong Consistency: mediocre
Fielding: woeful

EDIT: Forgot to mention... can't afford give him a net, so can't get his crap secondaries up anymore (which i'd imagine is the reason he gets hammered regularly)

Sell him to me for cheaper, i think i can turn him into a half decent bowler.

Guys, I'm playing the Vague Vagrants in my next league match, and am at a loss as to whether I should TIE, PAN or GFI.
I reckon you've got a chance - if I was a betting man, I'd put you at something like 3/1 - so PAN gets my vote. I reckon you'd take him on GFI, but do you really want to do that?

I had a banana skin of a tie today - playing a Div V side who happen to have a chap called Maurice Hutchinson (BTR 169k, England NT). With Hutchinson being LF and it being a cracked pitch, I had my worries but TIEd it anyway.

Having logged in expecting to see Hutch going through my batsmen like a vindaloo through a nun, I now find them 94/1 off 20.

Reed cracked Hutchinson for 6 during his 10th over, leaving him with figures of 10-0-30-1. That'll do nicely!

Middle Order: respectable strong
Lower Order: abysmal abysmal

Spin Bowling: proficient strong

MOTM: Gibbins

Canning really won it for me, took 3-fer in his opening spell. No idea why Gibbins (72 off 71) got MOTM. Still, am very lucky to have won that looking at the ratings. Guess it was just my day.

Edit: First time I've pulled proficient spin too
Gibbins is an U19 player (he's probably wonderful with decent concentration), so that's where most of their middle order rating comes from. So basically both teams have bowling > batting, yours had a good day first and so your batting didn't have to score many so took it steady.

This focus group thing is potentially disastrous, having read today's Q+A it's abundantly obvious that nearly everyone has NFI what they're talking about.
