Oh, come on, he may have done that last night but he's hardly got a reputation for doing it
He averages over fifty in 2nd innings and 32 in first innings. Cricinfo even covered it in 'The Numbers Game' a year or two ago, as one of the biggest disparities for established players.

I will grant that for the couple of years after his first Indian tour he put up some good 1st innings scores, including some very effective hundreds (if only he was still doing that or even looked capable of it), but his stats have definitely not suffered from so many opposing teams failing to set a 200+ target against invariably good Aus bowling.

Why nobody from aussie top 3 tries to bat through 50 overs?

I really can't understand why none of the aussie top 3 try to bat through 50 overs. It is one of the most important part of building a good score. I think hayden should be given that role. And who are the guys you think should be playing in tomorrow's game from the aussie side. I hope its a close encounter tomorrow otherwise it will again really frustrating.

Ah, that's much better to read pup. Thanks mate. I think NZ will field the same team as last time except Vincent will come straight in for Astle

actually more confident with vincent in the team...

Not because hes great or anything... but *anything* would have been better than astles current/final form

+ he is a Specialist opener.. something we have not had for a long time in this team

I don't know if you can call Lou Vincent a specialist opener but let's hope he gets the innings off to a flyer tonight

Usually Hayden or Ponting will look to bat through and make a big score, doesn't always happen though.

Why NZ will win

Don't worry, fellow NZ supporters:
- Perth was where Louie V smashed a brilliant 100 and 50 on debut.
- We traditionally win 1 in 3 games against Australia.
- Australia can lose "dead-rubber" matches.
- We have Kyle Mills. Kyle Mills > everyone.

It's in the bag. I don't even know why Australia are bothering to turn up.

I like your positive attitude. The only thing I am worried about is whether or not Vincent will play a stupid shot to be dismissed, with Astle's retirement he is going to be a big key for the World Cup and he needs to start playing like he has a brain. Hoping Mark Gillespie bowls well again today, he's been impressive so far.

When he's bowling well. Which he largely is not.
From what I've seen lately, he's a bit leg side. But I also thought he was beating the bat a lot. I think it's definitely hard for Bond to bowl as well as he has, though.

For ODI's he's been turned into a specialist opener, really. Given that he started as a middle order player but now opens there in ODI and List A matches.

He's not too disimilar from Astle, in some respects. Middle order player for the longer format, opener in the shorter.

Gutted about Bond but hopefully Mills can show us how well he has come back fromn injury, besides Bond has been bowling quite leg side and not as threatening as he usually is.
