After seeing Monty bat, i'm failing to see how he's "far worse" than any of the other english tailenders as i'd heard from so many people (many previous test cricketers included). After seeing him bat in these last 3 tests he's probably looked the best of all of them.

Dire is a bit harsh imo...

Adelaide second innings is etched into my mind more than that. It's a big difference facing an Australian attack smelling blood, with a new ball, than their Indian counterparts. Flintoff did ok with the tail but they still didn't make the 300. Australia will be looking at 500 IMO considering all of the English batsman got a good start and failed to go on.
