Disgraceful shot by Astle, and McCullum once again falls after getting a good little start. Ross Taylor wasn't out but I suppose what the umpires say is final, Fulton needs some runs now.

About 30 more runs on the board, and I'de say Sri Lanka had a very strong chance to steal this game from the Kiwis.

As I said before winning the toss gives you nearly 75% chance of winning in these conditions - since you can choose to bowl first and use the conditions. It is a low scoring ground. But SL batsmen were apalling in that they crumbled under pressure without adequate application to stay put for a grafting long innings.

Sl looked like they were happy to concede this ODI by resting Malinga and Vaas and playing the 2 grunters !! (Dilhara and Ruchira )

Great bowling by Mason using the conditions beautifully and luck was with the kiwis in 2 unnecessary run outs which put paid to any decent score being posted .

This is shocking. The bowling's been good and the fielding outstanding, but this is not that bad a pitch. The batting has been atrocious.

It's about a 210 pitch IMO.

Problem with NZ here is that they have a long tail this game, and Murali has plenty of overs up his sleeve.

Really, they've gotta get runs from Fernando and such.

To be honest, SL winning would have been a farce as other than a bit of the bowling, they were pathetic. Mind you NZ were hardly brilliant, but Fulton was great and they fielded and bowled well and consistently.

Like the look of Fulton, not sure how good he'll be in the longer form of the game, but he handled the pressure well and I like his technique. Could be my new fav NZ batsman after Hamish Marshall turned to complete poo.

Brendon McCullum is been the key in both the matches that kiwi won. He has definetly made the difference by hitting some speed runs on the top of the order. He is the one that I am looking for to win world cup for NZ by smashing all the bowlers by utilising the powerplays. He is going to be the 1996 Jayasuriya for NZ.

Best of Luck NZ

you think Fleming and Bond will be good enough to win matches on their own?
bond may have a good influence but I don't think Flemings' inclusion will make a big difference, if any.
Fleming, highest run-scorer and captain, should have a major influence on this team.
In hindsight we didn't need either in the 2nd game and only Bond (who's only input was the wicket of Jayasuriya) in the 3rd and it's now 2-1 but I'll try not to gloat

Fulton is mainly a Test type of player at domestic criket level. I think he has the potential to become one of those stable middle order batsman that can bat for periods of time.
