Vermaak will reach Remarkable bowling next week, after which I'll change his nets to 1 bat and 1 bowl as opposed to 2 bowl. Hopefully this will allow his consistency to catch up an extent with his bowling so there isn't a massive gulf between them. Hoping by the end of next season he'll start to find his feet, whereby he'll have wonderful bowling and proficient batting. If not, he will be up for sale and I'll find a replacement for him.
Sweeney I'll train till he reaches remarkable. He still has a little way to go yet. His net will be moved onto a new trainee for next season.
I am looking at my options in the transfer market now. I am considering putting up Jim Mutasa for sale and replacing him with a superb bowler, as opposed to Jim who is only strong. the plan to sell on this 'superb' bowler at the end of the season so that, hopefully, I can make another fine addition to the Whenuapai squad.
Also in the works are the plans to upgrade Airbase Road's capacity. It currently sits 34,000. Last season we were able to sell it out on numerous occasions. I haven't decided yet but, at the moment I will probably upgrade to 42,000. I don't think we will sell out games intially, but with future growth in mind, I'd imagine sells wouldn't be too far away, provided the club is able to maintain the momentum of the past 2 seasons.
Furthermore, my club awaits a visit from 3 time national champions, Calvi's XI. We have met once before in the cup quarter finals last season, where my team scored a stunning 3 wicket upset. I'm hoping that he will play his full strength line up which will give me a chance to gauge whereabouts my sides sits in relation to top side in New Zealand.
One more thing, for those of you who actually bothered to read this far, although this post doesn't really compare in length to some of the posts that Trevor churns out, next season I think will be a season of consolidation, although once again, we should put together a strong cup run, I'm hoping to least the last 16, but preferably the quarter finals. I face Korn Fed in week 1. They finished last in I.1 last this season, but still boost a squad stronger than my own. If we can go close, I think that my promotion ambitions will be well and truly alive. But if he is able to defeat us heavily, which is very likly, I think next season will be about maintaining our place in II.4, with hopes and pushing for promotion in season 7.
