Will stick with the Ross Taylor pick re @Patience and Accuracy+Gut as other picks made between that and Angelo Mathews pick coupled with it being consistent with Line and Length not getting John Snow when they picked Ryan Harris and had a change of heart after another pick or 2 were made. Have just got Ross Taylor in at 6 but tag me @Patience and Accuracy+Gut if you want Taylor higher in the order and will edit my word document.

I am leaning towards doing one big vote - vote for best 5 teams out of the 19 (any one with strong preferences - I did think about 3 groups - 1 of 7 and 2 of 6 but always just wonder about 2 stage voting if there is a risk of not the same level of engagement with the final vote compared to the first vote. But am open to doing this if there is a strong preference from multiple people.

I think June had the most World Class players unpicked by far. It was painful to not be able to include both of Charlie MaCartney and Chris Cairns; but I just couldn't overlook Philander. October had many good players too, but Snow was clearly a standout (bad luck, Line and Length). November and December were also strong months. Another difficult choice was between Warwick Armstrong and Chandrashekhar; I wanted Armstrong but not many World Class spinners were left, and the ones left were of Nov and Dec.

Really good teams, the changes I would make:
February: Vishwanath for Bill Lawry. Lawry to open and Simpson to bat at middle order.
March: Clem Hill for Hashim Amla, Neil Wagner for Jack Cowie.
May: Frank Woolley for Ted Dexter, Bob Willis for Maurice Tate.
October: Matthew Hayden for Virendra Sehwag.
November: Younis Khan and Virat Kohli for V V S Laxman and Mushtaq Mohammad.
December: Les Ames for Quinton de Kock, Rohan Kanhai for Doug Walters, Ravindra Jadeja for Aubrey Faulkner (too many leg spinners).

Final 3 months you could build an XI of - Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Ponting, Kallis, Nourse, Botham, Gilchrist (wk), Imran Khan, Lindwall, Donald, O'Reilly
October XI could potentially beat some quarters - the batting lineup at least seems better for October than first quarter XI. Second quarter XI am intrigued how that lines up with Lara, Tendulkar and S Smith all battling for the number 4 spot there. Perhaps you back S Smith to have similar effectiveness as an opener - if so S Smith and Hutton, although harsh to knock out a great opener in Greenidge for a great batter in S Smith but not definitively a great opener yet. Something like the following for second quarter?:
S Smith, Hutton, Hammond, Tendulkar, Lara, S Waugh, Knott (wk), Wasim Akram, Marshall, Steyn, Muralitharan.
Hammond at under 1 wpm as the 5th bowling option but an elite bowling attack. You could make an argument that you have the best spinner ever, best pacer ever, best left-arm pacer ever and a top 5 fast bowler in Steyn.
