Umpires: Aleem Dar

Full name: Aleem Sarwar Dar
Born: June 6, 1968, Jhang, Punjab

Aleem DarThis quiet little umpire from Pakistan can often remain unnoticed for long periods of time. This simple fact of anonymity is the sign of a quality cricket umpire. If an umpire goes unnoticed it is almost certainly a sign that he has made no crucial or controversial mistakes.

Aleem Dar does everything correctly on the cricket field from his signals to his unobtrusive interactions with the players.

A first class cricketer in his own right Dar has excelled as an international umpire being twice nominated as international umpire of the year (2005 and 2006), although both times he missed out on the award to Australian umpire Simon Taufel.

Making his Test umpire debut in October 2003, Dar was the first Pakistan umpire elected to the elite panel.
