Surya hasn't justified his selection to be honest but Iyer seems injured and might be doubtful for world cup

I think only one of Jadeja and Axar should play. And I think 7 proper batsmen (including Pandya) should play. Axar/Jadeja should bat at #8
You don't see an issue with picking 3 frontline bowlers, a bowling allrounder, a batting allrounder and no bowling options in the top 6?

Axar should be able to bowl 10 overs, else he should not play. His batting is not good enough to justify selection if he is only going to bowl 5-6 overs. Ditto for Jadeja. On second thoughts Jadeja for Axar might be a better choice because Jadeja has been given more overs by the team in recent past. They have wasted Axar the bowler completely.

Solid team if jansen at 7 has a decent tournament. Ngidi and rabada are two of the best new ball wicket takers in the ODI game and the top 6 is very, very good. Only issue is middle over wickets, jansen and maharaj did a decent job of that in the series vs AUS, but i'm not sure if they'll be able to repeat that at a WC. Shame linde isn't here, would have prefered him at 7 and coetzee over shamsi.

Linde and Mulder both definitely should have been in the squad, or at least given some opportunities in ODIs recently to push for it.

It was bad enough already without Lucky being called up.

This is my XI
I know for sure this won't be playing XI on Oct 8th, as this team management is crazy about Rahul.
He is mediocre keeper, okay batsman, and never scored runs in big events (unless playing a minnow).
I would rather gamble with kishan. He is much better keeper, and gives that left handed variety in the middle order and has that aggression that lacks in the top 4.

This is the best available XI IMO. Solid order upto 8. I’d like to have faith on Fizz with the kind of experience he gathered on indian pitches. Mushfiq is a transformed bat in loi. Mahedi is a must on flat pitches.
