Your top 3 Test innings

honestbharani

Whatever it takes!!!
Best I have seen, in order:

1. Lara's 153* .. easily the best

2. Laxman''s 281 - unforgettable

3. Sehwag's 201* - A bit of a lesson to the much vaunted middle order on how to play spin

This question may be as common as "Tendulkar vs Lara" one, but still worth discussing.

Mine are:

No.1 - Graham Gooch 154*:

I've seen loads of Tendulkars, Laras and Viv Richards, but NEVER seen such a high quality knock played by the three batsmen above. This by far the best.

No.2 - VVS Laxman 281.

This innings doesn't need an introduction.

No.3 - Lara 153* vs Australia.

Top quality knock, was very lucky to get dropped twice by Stuart Macgill and also got some good help from Walsh at the other end. But still a champion knock.
Lara wasnt dropped twice...Healy dropped him once, and he played a loose shot which luckily went wide of warne at slip. And yeah, walsh faced only around 6-7 balls, but credit where its due, one of those 7 balls was probably the best delivery ever to not get a wicket, a stunning inswinging yorker from gillespie which walsh somehow squeezd out... ambrose was the one who played the vital supporting knock

Apart from the obvious ones like Lara's 153, VVS 281, SehWAG 201*, the other great innings ive seen would be :
Sachin's 136 at Chennai... still makes me cry :(
Ponting's 156 at Manchester
Clarke 151
Dravid's twin fifties at Sabina are two innings i vividly remember... wonderful, underrated performance

some minor classics

shastri's 48* in the fourth innings of the '86 tied test - was an awesome display of controlled aggression. some brilliant hitting and classic quick running with tailenders

kapil's 77* in the '90 lords test - 4 consecutive sixes to avoid the follow-on dont come that easily
