Your ideal ODI pitch?

I was gonna emphasise that and see how many Kiwis jumped on Lang... was expecting Fiery before you, tho...

Oh... yeah... I'd like to say congratulations to McCullum. I'd never have believed he had it in him to play the innings he played in the Third ODI, BTW. But he did.
:ranting: :) Not sure why you are that surprised actually Richard. He's played enough similar innings, maybe not quite that good, to suggest he was always capable of doing that.

tbh given his ability I'm horribly disappointed he hasn't done it far more often. Strange guy to single out- imo he has underachieved with the bat.

He's smashed the odd incredibly fast 50 - never played an innings where he first supported, then took-over lead-scoring role (albeit Gillespie later usurped it again), and what's more scored over 80 runs in a one-day game.

Not something I thought I'd ever see.

When I was watching the game actually, I was surprised to see McCullum's previous best was only 55 or so. I really thought he had got a couple of other 80+ scores.

I'm sure there will be plenty more. He's a terrific little player. I'm of the opinion by the time Brendan McCullum retires he will be recognised as one of the greats of NZ cricket, and most certainly the best ever wicket-keeper batsman.
