Your batting and bowling?

Were CricInfo lying when they said you took-up a modelling career? I had to ask sometime.

Modelling does not preclude cricketing, my dear chap.

Being pug-ugly precludes modelling; and fortunately I'm not pug-ugly.

Even a chap with looks like yours could possibly be a hand or foot model. Pharmaceutical companies will pay a few quid for some disgusting looking shots of a rotten foot. You could be 'quids in', Richard ;)

I forget - were you playing in the shirt-off Test? Whether or not, I hope it hasn't left a sour taste in the Kiwi mouth. I assure you, Dom is mostly a man of delightful conduct on and off the field.

Try this - who do you bat and bowl like? Try to make it realistic in a relative sense - if you dominate your competition with big scores AND bat like Ponting, you can say Ponting. This is based on your style and your ability at the level you play in. Please don't call yourself Lara just because you're left-handed and have been bashing kids half your age.

Let's see ... bat like Dinesh Karthik, bowl like Joginder Sharma (used to be Agarkar).
Bat like a right handed mark Richardson except a pull shot instead of a cut shot.

Hmm bowling I guess I'm a mix of a Styris/Astle that can seam the ball. Currently experimenting wih fast bowling. I'm like a crappier version of Heath Davis.:p

A lot of damn good bowlers fit into that category, Phlegm. I guess if you bat like Rigor, you could say that you bat phlegmatically too... Works pretty well...

And I know what you mean now Richard... I wondered whether Dom was a user here (giving that you often use real names), but I getcha now.

Bat like Jason Gillespie, except I open. Bowl like him a bit as well, he or Mark Waugh depending on the pitch.

Mainly a leg spinner. Have always been quite accurate and consistent. I'm tall so I get a lot of bounce, used to bowl quite slowly but have quickened of late as I'm playing a higher level of cricket. I don't spin the ball miles like Macgill, but do quite a bit, but can vary quite well between side spin and over spin depending on the pitch. Have the two or thee different leg breaks, wrongun, slider and a dreadful flipper that I have only ever bowled twice in matches, one bowled someone, the other was the worst wide I've ever bowled. I pride my bowling on 6 good balls an over, no long hops at all, with the occasional half volley or very low full toss.

My batting used to be very good, but when I was younger I disolcated my knee twice when batting which has made it hard to play off the back foot (mentally) off thew quick bowlers ever since. I went from an opener to a middle order player who is primarily front foot and I hit very straight, but drag left handed medium pacers over mid on/wicket ala Hayden.

Joined a new club last season and didn't bat above 8 which was really disappointing and being so far down the order, it was hard to get a score and prove myself. But playing between two different compos this year, I will be batting top 4 in one, bottom four in the other, work that out.

Bat a lot like Bruce Reid, except I'm right handed. :p

I'm an unabashed slogger and the gate between bat and pad is not so much open as fallen of its hinges with a big sign saying "This way bowlers!!!". This changes everyone once in a while when I decide I should actually concentrate on my technique and defend, and then I'm not too bad at it, but its not natural to me and never lasts for more than three or four balls at a time. Lofted on-drive-***-hoick to mid-wicket is my favourite shot.

My bowling was better I used to bowl decent medium pace - occasionally producing a somewhat quicker one. I had a decent yorker, a slower (as in bearing moving at all) ball and an off-cutter, which also usually came out a bit slower. The off-cutter worked reasonably well as a surprise ball, especially if the batsman had missed a straight slower ball after having WAAY too much time to think about which fence they'd deposit it over. On the other hand, if the batsman was any good, or even if I tried to use the off-cutter without the element of surprise, it went a long long way. I'm reasonably tall, so could get a ball up into the rib-cage pretty well as well, although at my (lack of) pace it would worry any decent batsman.

I never really practiced enough, and since the kids have come along, I haven't really found time to get out there and have a consistent go with a team. I suspect I'd suck royally now.

Im a fast medium bowler and I open the bowling

My stock ball is an outswinger, I can also bowl inswingers to change it up a bit.

I suppose I bowl mostly like Brett Lee.

I can also bat a bit. I usually bat 7 or 8, and I got a century last season.

I like to play myself in the first few overs, not playing many shots then when I get set I like the cut shot and the cover drive.

Love the cut shot, if theres a fielder out on the boundary I just play it along the ground, and when he's up in a shorter point I just hit it over his head for a boundary.

I suppose I'd bat a bit like Damien Martyn.
