razzaq is undoubtedly the best hitter in the last 10 overs in the world ATM. not flintoff or cairns can come in hammer bowling from the word go like razzaq can.Beleg said:I can't quite see this favour of Afridi. I wonder how many people would have put him in their top five if it weren't for his exaggerated style and the recent trashing.
He averages 15 at No 6, 25 at No 5, 14 at No 7 and 20 at no 8. [20 mainly due to his recent inning] with only two fifties in over 40 matches.
Compare this to Razzaq, who averages 30 of 44 matches with 1 hundred and 3 fifties at No 6, 33 at number seven from fifty-nine matches [many fifties], and 45 from 19 matches at number 8.
I disagree...Razzaq is in my top 5, but not "undoubtedly" the besttooextracool said:razzaq is undoubtedly the best hitter in the last 10 overs in the world ATM. not flintoff or cairns can come in hammer bowling from the word go like razzaq can.
i agree TEC, when he gets going in the last 10 overs he doesn't stop - it's like teams can't get him out once he starts to hit out and he normally ends not out, all the other players are known strikers of the ball and arn't really known for hitting out at the end of an innings where razzaq has done it successfully more often than nottooextracool said:razzaq is undoubtedly the best hitter in the last 10 overs in the world ATM. not flintoff or cairns can come in hammer bowling from the word go like razzaq can.
Wouldn't be so sure. I'd get the Kevlar out.Barney Rubble said:My top 5, in no particular order:

Would have put the legends Tendulkar and Lara in there, but for the simple fact that they are not often batting during the last 10 overs, and if you needed 90 off the last 10 to win the World Cup, any of those five have probably slightly more improvisational know-how and sheer power than the two greats - can't believe I'm almost criticising Lara and Tendulkar, I should be shot.
Except neither of them can captain. That I can say without fear of death.
You say that, but I wouldn't say any of Cairns, Flintoff, Razzaq or Klusener have that much improvisation about them.Barney Rubble said:any of those five have probably slightly more improvisational know-how and sheer power than the two greats - can't believe I'm almost criticising Lara and Tendulkar, I should be shot.
whos better than him at the moment? cairns and klusener are past their prime, afridi is riding on one game, flintoff isnt as explosive as razzaq and needs to get in before he can play his shots well enough.zinzan12 said:I disagree...Razzaq is in my top 5, but not "undoubtedly" the best
I believe the 5 i mentioned are hard to separate. I certainly don't Razzaq is exclusively the best.tooextracool said:whos better than him at the moment? cairns and klusener are past their prime, afridi is riding on one game, flintoff isnt as explosive as razzaq and needs to get in before he can play his shots well enough.
Definitely. I still remember that knock he played against NZ in the dead rubber 5th ODI in 2003/03 I think. It was amazing, Pakistan looked gone and he just started smashing the ball everywhere. If it wasn't for Akhtar's stupid lazy running he may have got Pakistan home.bryce said:i agree TEC, when he gets going in the last 10 overs he doesn't stop - it's like teams can't get him out once he starts to hit out and he normally ends not out, all the other players are known strikers of the ball and arn't really known for hitting out at the end of an innings where razzaq has done it successfully more often than not
How on earth can someone include the name of a player on the basis of just ONE INNINGS?????????? this is beyond mezinzan12 said:Mine .....
Cairns
Afridi
Lara
Razzak
Flintoff
Note: I left the likes of Gilchrist and Sewag as being openers I've seen less of them in the last 10
carines isnt past his best he playing the best cricket in is life at the momenttooextracool said:whos better than him at the moment? cairns and klusener are past their prime, afridi is riding on one game, flintoff isnt as explosive as razzaq and needs to get in before he can play his shots well enough.

Thats just my opinion. It just happens to be different than yours.
Sorry we don't both think the same.
Razzaq is a hitter of big shots and is not a unidimensional slogger like Afridi. Razzaq has more strokes, more brains, can play a wider variety of bowlers and will therefore last longer. Is much surer in his hitting which is not the hit-or-miss variety of Afridi.Jono said:Definitely. I still remember that knock he played against NZ in the dead rubber 5th ODI in 2003/03 I think. So which of those is in on the basis of 1 innings?vandemataram said:How on earth can someone include the name of a player on the basis of just ONE INNINGS?????????? this is beyond me
I agree with that. That being said, I wouldn't mind having both of them down there for the last 10.SJS said:Razzaq is a hitter of big shots and is not a unidimensional slogger like Afridi. Razzaq reminds me of Kluesenar in his better days.
