Chris...what's wrong with Stewart? He may be 40 odd now but he's still our best Wicket-Keeper Batsman and is still delivering. You should not discriminate he because of his age, quite a few players have played Tests who are older than he is. Also why replace him with Foster? Foster has proven that the only reason he was picked was because he scored a 50 in the England A Tour 2 years ago, he is a decent batsman but not in the Stewart Class and can't catch. Now why would you replace someone who is averaging 39 with the bat and 30 in ODIs and is keeping well...with some guy who averages 20 odd in Tests and 11 or so in ODIs and has been responsible for several terrible dropped catches. Get Read in there, he's good enough, or just keep Stewart, he's done nothing wrong and I doubt Foster could get anywhere near to him anyway.

No....I think he is well past his best and anyway, it's time to look for new talent. Karthik has been sidelined without proper reasons for far too long.

Why have you got Griggs so low? he's a wicket-keeper batsman.

OK, if this was today:

Tests
Trescothick
Vaughan
Butcher
Hussain
Thorpe
Stewart
Flintoff
Giles
Gough
Caddick
Hoggard

ODI
Knight
Trescothick
Hick
Hussain
Thorpe
Stewart
Flintoff
Ealham
Gough
Caddick
Mullally

I know Marc will shout me down because he dislikes 3 bowlers who can't bat and also Ealham, but never mind eh? ;) Irani would possibly get in the ODI side for one of the bowlers, could be anyone - Gough's always injured, Mullally wouldn't get back in now and Caddick is always out of form!

2 points Bazza - firstly those line ups only contain one bowler who can't bat for the position he's selected in IMO, Mullally, and secondly I'm a big Ealham fan!

So I'm going to shout you down for saying I'll shout you down for something I wouldn't shout you down for!

I was sure you were the guy who always used to criticise Ealham for being crap. Or at least a bits and pieces player (which he is to an extent, but Harris works well, so do a few others and there's always room for one I think. Symonds might be another example.)? Anyway I'm still a fan of his, Hick's and Mullally's. They won't come back now, and maybe if I took over I wouldn't go back to them at this stage, but they should have been in the side for the last couple of years...

No, I've always liked Ealham and can't understand why he suddenly disappeared from the International scene.

Because he got canned by Australia and wasn't getting any runs...Mullally just didn't take enough wickets...although he kept the runs down which is a good thing in ODIs...just look at AA...

Yeah but Ealham batted 17 and bowled 32, though with an econ of barely 4, which is good. You don't need to bowl sides out if you can restrict them to 216.

Mullally averaged 27 with a SR of 42 and most importantly an econ of 3.84. Combine those two with Gough and Caddick and White (who made up the 5 bowlers about 2 years ago) and the average opposition score comes to barely 200 runs (about 209) and maybe 7 or 8 wickets. I think even our batsmen could chase that (Knight, Trescothick, Stewart, Hussain would put in about 130-140 between them on average). Anyway I'm digressing....

Actually Mark Ealham averages lower with the ball and higher with the bat against Australia in Tests than his career averages.

I always thought he was unfairly canned by the English selectors. He could bowl pretty well I thought. Plus he could hit the ball pretty hard but was a determined character.
