wtf just happened to cricinfo

Despite all the design problems with cricinfo, I'll never turn to cricbuzz. There are articles and player profile pages are so amateurish, I can write better ones.
This is true. I do use it for live scores on mobile though.

Apology accepted.

Yet another emphatic victory for Daemon.

Still no career stats.

The fact most old series' links are dead doesn't leave me with much faith we'll see them again.

Why didn't they at least run a beta version first.

I'm generally used to this new Cricinfo version but I hardly ever use it for stats - Howstat is much easier to use now.

The thing I miss about Cricinfo now is how it used to have all these random match reports from those played in the 1990s; I recall for the Oz home Test series v New Zealand in 1993/94 that there were links to reports that seemed to come from some newsgroup. Rather messy and not 'proper' but it was one of the most appealing things about going through the site.

Yeah I agree howstat is far easier to use for basic stats and scorecards. I find statsguru a real pain to use, but the filters it has certainly gives it way more versatility for the serious stats nerds.

Still miss the career averages being displayed on the match link rather than having to go through individual player profiles for it.

The current stats were nice, watching someone's average just continuously bloat or fall in real-time.

It's silly and a minor thing, but I miss it.

Haha, to be fair, the the latter article actually did explain some of the actual points of it. It was just a clickbaity title.

I'm getting a little irritable with the way the cricinfo screen "jumps" after you click onto live scores. You go to press the scorecard and it jumps up to another part of the screen and before you know you've accessed a game from a week ago. Sometimes it jumps up, then down then up again before it settles. its a great advertisement for cricbuzz.

I find it usually leads me to visiting 'googleleads.doubleclick...' etc. Disproportionately annoying.

Is my browser being weird, or have they got rid of the bit at the bottom of player's pages where you had the graphs of their batting/bowling over time and could apply the various filters to it? Used to enjoy just clicking on random scores there to go to the scorecard for the match they made it it, discovered/rediscovered quite a few good matches that way

It appears to have been removed.

Shame.

I also could never figure out where there is a '1st position' and '2nd position' when providing a breakdown of a batsmen's numbers in a particular batting order.

Could it not just read 'opener'?

1st position refers to when you receive the 1st ball of an inns. That could also be an interesting way to sort out stats for an opener.

Blimin annoying how they’ve changed the page title of the live scoring page from “86/5” or whatever the score is to “Get Ball by Ball Commentary ...”. The old title was perfect to keep an eye on in the task bar when the window was minimised at work.
