WTC 2025 Final : Qualifying scenario

Nope, if India draw both tests and SL beat Aus 1-0 or draw 0-0, India can sneak in.

Oh I mean sure there’s mathematical possibilities. But I may be misrepresenting Australia’s chances in SL. SL have been quite good lately and I don’t have much confidence in our batting overseas rn.

Whatever it takes!!!
India makes it if: They win the last test, and Australia can’t win a test against SL.

Sri Lanka makes it if: They beat Australia 2-0 and the final Aus vs India test is drawn.

Australia makes it in all other scenarios.
I wanna see SA Vs SL at Lords tbh.

Just yesterday, there was an actual scenario that if Pak beat RSA in both tests, and Ind beat Aus in both tests and SL beat Aus in both tests, it would have been a SC final at Lords with Ind Vs SL.

It has its flaws but it has definitely made every test matter in a series, which is a very big tick for the WTC IMO.

Penalties come into play if Australia lose at least 4 more points than India. There's a scenario where Australia and India could end up on the same points but with Australia having one extra win, which would be hilarious.

Yes all of this assumes no over rate penalties.

Ironic that SA are playing the final when they sent their C team to New Zealand earlier this year and all their star players prioritised SA20 over test cricket

Congrats though but given how exciting WTC cycle has shaped up to be, would hope that more players from the lesser nations so to speak, don't give up test cricket for franchise cricket. It's a long shot but onus is on ICC and the cricket boards to maybe increase financial compensation for players playing test cricket.

That was their board, not their players. The players were contractually obliged to do it once the board made that decision.
