Would you trade Bradman for these cricketers?

Bradman averaged 99.94
Sutcliffe averaged 60
Headley averaged 60
Hammond averaged 58
Hobbs averaged 57

I am not sure how to tell this exactly.

If we believe Don would not average 99 today, then we should also believe the other legends would also average in mid 40s today then
Hammond would average mid 30's imo. Great slip fielder tho, surely that'll get him into the top 10.

Tbf if Marshall bowled exclusively to just Don, he likely will average 65+, which still would be pretty Great.
If he bowled exclusively to Bradman he would end up averaging 199.88. Why? Make up random **** and call it context and quality.

Also if Marshall ended up bowling to Bradman in the 1930s he would take 6 weeks to get from the west Indies to Australia. He stubs a toe along the way somewhere really bad and ends up with an infection. Gets no anti biotics and has to get his toe amputated..his career over.

tbh lets say Marshall is amazing, does he even affect the series remotely against Australia? 4-1 with the Windies one win coming thanks to Martin and Headley and good declaring judgement with weather. Could Marshall himself somehow turn around 3 innings (+122, +172, +217) losses and a 10 wicket loss into wins?

It is possible if you assume that Marshall is bowling at his peak from the 1980s and everyone else is playing 1930s style.

But, if you assume, much more reasonable IMO that players will have similar levels of output across time then its difficult to see him making that much difference.

Bradman was halved by 2 bowlers named Larwood and Voce, who average 27+ (and Bodyline)
How he would have fared against a 4 man pace attack with Marshall, is interesting.

Put another way, which attack was more lethal, Larwood + Voce + Bodyline or the W.I. 4 man pace attack ?

Larwood and Voce...easily. They were doing it to a plan that made scoring near impossible and to batsman with inferior equipment and toothpicks to bat with.

He was "halved" by them using a strategy banned 50 years before Marshall played, so No, that proves nothing for the Windies quaret.

I’ll give this, if the quartet plays Bodyline vs Australia in 32/33 Australia don’t win the one match they did.
