By the way, I dont like the idea of crediting (or debiting) the results of a test match's performance on the day it started. How can you credit a batsman on day 1 for a century he scored four days later?

They should credit the scores only at the end of the Test match and the ratings should apply from the next day.

The main contentious spots (as far as batting order) were those in the middle order, which had a rather superfluous wealth of candidates. Some things I considered included:

1. Electing Thorpe over Slater (Slater is ranked lower), with Tendulkar then opening the batting and Thorpe at 4. The conumdrum was that Sachin isn't a pure opener, so I decided to stick with Slats.

2. Putting Lara at his customary number 4 position (the lack of a better first drop accounted for the evaporation of that idea, as well as the fact that Sachin also bats at 4).

3. Moving Inzamam and Jimmy Adams up into the middle order. However, the overdose of competent middle order bats meant that they had to make do with batting a few places lower than usual.

The exercise on a whole was rather intriguing and fun.

I would be grateful for and open to any suggestions which might improve the line up.

Does Adams keep? It says so in his profile on Cricinfo, but I'm not sure.

If not, I might have to reconsider the team.

Alec Stewart is the highest ranked wicketkeeper (apart from Adams) at #14 in the batting standings. I do know that he kept for England, but am not sure about whether Adams was a regular behind the stumps. Could someone intelligent please clarify?

Adams did a bit of keeping in domestic cricket and even kept a bit for the Windies in ODIs but I don't think he ever kept in a Test at all.
