Italy - winners 1934 - ditto for the Europeans (equalled by West Germany, England and France)
USA - semi finalists in the 1930s, no other side from North America has achieved this
South Korea - semi finalists in 2002 - best performance from an Asian side
Cameroon - quarter finalists in 1990, best performance from an African side, equalled by Senegal in 2002.
Australia - last 16 in 2006, best performance by a side from Oceania.

Yup, it was Brazil in 1938. Not one of the finer decisions in WC history.

Cheating's OK imo, but anyway the player was Leonidas.
