surprise packets = Bangledesh. i think that Australia may win it closely followed by South Africa and New Zealand.

Australia and India look the favourites for mine, England have every chance too but i think those first 2 have that little bit more class, if they meet in the final its really a toss of a coin job...

Zimbabwe have a good 1d bowling line up and could trouble some teams, their batting will prevent them from making any real challenges for further rounds, but if they win a game or just put in reasonable performances they should be happy enough...

New Zealand may struggle in the one dayers, will be a different story for tests but i dont think their one day side can match the top teams...

Well I reckon thats a bit harsh to not even rate South Africa a mention, we have a bloody good team and I can't see us being beaten without a fight...

Hell, i'm tipping us to win

Sri Lanka for the surprise packets, we got a pretty good bowling attack and decent batting line up. Also we are playing a lot of games infront the home crowd :). If teams take us lightly there is no doubt they will be on the wrong side of the result. Watch this space for Lankans to beat a few of the more highly rated sides, to get into the Super Six.

We have a very nice OD team here, fantastic batting order, and really strong in the bowling.

My take:

Australia - led by their bowlers, they pose a very strong threat. Good batting too.

England - strong batting, varied bowling attack

India - even squad, lacks a bit of the edge bowling-wise

New Zealand - strong bowling, but their batsmen go down rapidly after Roberts and Holland

Pakistan - actually a pretty weak team - even top order but lacks the big stars.

South Africa - great batting, not sure about the bowling, however. The best leak runs.

Sri Lanka - possibly one of the weaker sides - economical bowlers, but little batting

West Indies - despite a small talent pool, they have a strong first XI, and could very well make the super six

Zimbabwe - their strength lie in the bowling, where Chinyoka, Dabengwa and Nicolson ought to stir up some things.

Bangladesh - they've managed to drop their second best bowler. Once you get past the top four, hardly anything to worry about.

1) Australia
2) England
3) New Zealand
4) India
5) South Africa
6) West Indies
7) Pakistan
8) Sri Lanka
9) Zimbabwe
10)Bangladesh

I think that South Africa (unbiased of course) have a huge OD line up. With the best OD player in the world in Tweedie leading the batting i honestly fear for bowling attacks from around the world.

Our bowling is full of pace, pace, pace. It may have come under some scrutiny due to the fact that it might not be "varied" enough however with 6 genuine pace bowling options I feel we're a real threat.

Of the other teams I think Pakistan might cause some big upsets. Their bowling attack is misely with no one to really go after. If their batting can click better watch the pakies.

World Cup Games from the Opening Day of Games...

Group A

Australia vs Sri Lanka @ Colts
Pakistan vs South Africa @ Lahore

Group B

New Zealand vs West Indies @ Karnataka
India vs England @ Mumbai

Congrats to all Winners..

Also let me remind managers to check their sides...

1 team selected a player who was not even in their 25 man squad, whilst another team selected a player who was selected as a Emergency player and can only play in the case of a long term injury to a squad player...

ALSO Check the site for Injuries after the Opening Day of Games... Injuries HERE

Teams for Gameday 2 are due in by Midnight Friday Sydney Time... Post in the thread provided.

Have I missed something? Why did A Best play?

I Vernon
C Gayle
D Cowe
J Jenkins
Y Hills
S Chanderpaul
F Reifer
L Cush
T Bradshaw
K Weekes
B Edwards

Cush was supposed to play. He has a significantly better bowling average and is a better batsman.

That's unfortunate. He should've been.

I understand that there wasn't time to do so, but I'd have ideally liked to choose the replacement in the team. Best is not going to be getting many people out at One Day International level.

Ah well. That's unfortunate. Kyyyyle, you got some 'splainin' to do...
