Windies Team Discussion, and Other Related Things Thread

Good match shaping up here.

Leewards are on the positive. Looking for runs to eliminate that 1st innings deficit of 107. They are currently 32-0. Carty on 15, Hodge on 12

Permaul is ripping through the Leewards' top order.

47-2

Both openers gone*

*Chandrika is still at the hospital, and most likely will not bat this innings.

Leewards trail by 60 runs

Leewards are in trouble.

Motie with his first wicket.

4 down and they are 46 runs behind.

Both batsmen at the crease are yet to score. Orlando Peters and Rahkeem Cornwall

In the other 2 matches:

TT are facing an uphill task, requiring 192 more runs, and 3 wickets down.

Shillingford with 2 of those wickets.

Jangoo (20) and Cariah (11) at the crease

Jamaica needs 55 more runs to win, but they are 4 wickets down. Warrican adds 2 more wickets to his first innings haul of 8

How spin friendly are these pitches, and how bad are the batsmen, when Warrican is getting eight fors. He didn't look remotely test class on already very favourable pitches in Bangladesh.

Pretty spin friendly from what I've seen. Particularly the Barbados v Jamaica one.

Though Warrican isn't a bad spinner, don't forget that he and Cornwall have totally cleaned up against various A teams touring the Caribbean. So it's not just our batsmen, it has to be pitches also.

This round has been a bit depressing tbh. Spin dominated, poor pitches, not really learning anything.

The couple of positives I have this season are openers/top order making runs (Carty, Campbell, Cato, Solozano, Gabriel have all started well) and some seamers looking very good (Harding, Joseph, Shepard, Louis).

It's hard to tell which spinners are really impressing as conditions are so loaded in their favour.

Jamaica really collapsed yesterday. Some batsmen were dismissed due to atrocious shots, rather than to good bowling. It was not a pretty sight. A microcosm of Windies cricket at the present moment.

An oldie but a goodie:

Child custody in Trinidad & Tobago family court [BREAKING NEWS]

A seven-year old boy was at the center of a port of spain family courtroom on tragarette road, drama Monday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him.

The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the Child Welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the West Indies Test Cricket team, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

Hety goes to RCB for 4.2 Crore ($600K). Life changing stuff. Congrats to the young man. Please don't forget West Indies cricket though!

So Hety goes to RCB for 580K, Pooran to Kings XI for 580K. Oshane Thomas for 100K to Rajasthan Royals. Arguably our 3 brightest prospects all going for big money. This could either be great for our cricket or a final nail in the coffin, depending on how the board chooses to deal with them. Hopefully it means the likes of Hety getting to train with Virat every day but still being committed to West Indies cricket.

All those Windies guys are pretty young. Under 25.

I hope we don't loose them.
Shimron should get a leadership role on the Windies team. Vice captain perhaps.
We need windies team to form a core group of players. Development is the name of the game.

Agreed. Lets invest in the youngsters, make them feel they have a future in West Indies cricket rather than ostracizing them on mass, which has been the WICB's go to policy.
