If Australia are looking to address the problems that cost them the Ashes in 2005, there is still some work to do. Their middle-order looks as fragile as ever. There is no way they can go into the Ashes with Symonds and Gilchrist at six and seven, respectively. Symonds is simply not up to batting in the top six for Australia. He's been given more than a fair run - 9 Test matches, including the last 7 in succession. Despite this, he still averages under 20. I wouldn't care if he is a genius with the ball (in reality, his bowling is merely serviceable) Australia can not afford to have him as a specialist batsman against England, particularly batting infront of a fading Gilchrist.
