Not at all to do with his Australian-ness, of course...aussie said:strange eh, only true great test all-rounders like that were Benaud & the Sobers but i really cant explain it. But Vettori seems as if he could fit into that group while i reckon Cameron white could become one someday
Mr Mxyzptlk said:Chris Gayle in ODI cricket among the current crop. Some would say Daniel Vettori, but would he be picked as a specialist batsman? Honestly..

I think Dan Vettori is almost there. He has made two test centries and a few 50's. His average must be getting up to about 20? In the last few years at test level it has been in the 30-40 range.

Interesting you doubt him, but think Vettori would get in the NZ side as a pure bowler.

Say his batting meant Martin went in at 10, would he be picked?
Samaraweera debuted against the West Indies I believe and was picked as an allrounder. He would not make the Sri Lankan team on bowling alone.James90 said:Thilan Samaraweera. Originally picked in the test team as a specialist spinner and later developed as a specialist batsman so he has been picked as both. The same goes for Alok Kapali.
Because he wouldn't get anywhere near the team as a bowler alone. Look at the original post.Sanz said:Carl Hooper. How could people forget him ?
Gayle has been a fine Test bowler for us this year and has been doing well in ODIs for a long time now.Blaze said:Would Chris Gayle seriously make the WI side for bowling alone?

I would say by the time he retires he will be challenging Chris Cairns and Richard Hadlee for our best all rounder ever.
He can count simply because he's hott lolzDon said:just for steds sake will someoone please say dave mohammed.cuz he can bat a bit
