Why are left arm wrist spinners so rare?

Hogg was unfortunate. In any other era or any other team he would have had a long career. Given his batting prowess would have beem a very good bowling all rounder.

Remember when Katich moved to NSW and in his first season bowled heaps in the Shield and took a load of wickets. It was 2003 I think

Katich had a pretty good record in red ball cricket (First-Class) with his bowling: 107 wickets @ 35.30. That's very good for a part-timer. Of those 107 First-Class wickets, 21 of them came in Test cricket @ 30.23, again very good for a part-time bowler.

Most of that was around 2003 to 2004. He bowled 20+ overs a lot of innings for NSW and took 6 for in a Test v Zimbabwe. Outside of that he barely bowled in his career

I'm a left arm wrist spinner in my college team and I can tell you, they're rare because they are useless. The team is almost always better off with a right arm off/leg or a slow left arm finger spinner.

Which makes it all the more tragic how India has mismanaged Kuldeep's career. All for a guy who can't get a game in Aus despite 500 wkts

He always had the ability, and being a left arm wrist spinner is inherently helpful because they are relatively rare. You get wickets for novelty.

But he never seemed like he had much interest in bowling. He did it a lot around those few years I assume mostly because he was looking for an extra reason to push for selection in a very strong Aus batting line-up

1. I can't bowl the googly. It becomes top spinner everytime.
2. I usually pitch it on the 5th stump, looking to spin it sharply into the stumps. And when I pitch it in line, it spins away to become a massive wide.
3. There are usually very few LHB's in the opponent team.

1. Yes you can, just believe.
2. Spin it less if you pitch it in line.
3. You can also bowl to RHB if you want.
