It's a close-run thing, I reckon, with Indian legends' propensity to go on too long, the fact Smith is a ridiculous cricket nerd and that Kane is marginally the youngest of them all.

Kane, I think, will try to get to Australia in 2026-27, defying the doubters like PEWS to finish his career on a high. But just as easily he might not, with the ongoing injury issues, the elbow, and the fact as much as he loves cricket, I don't think he will have any appetite to play as his form drops off. He really doesn't have much else to chase in the history books

Smith, he'll just want to play until he drops, or is dropped. Not sure when that'll be.

Dunno about Kohli but I do know those sort of guys tend to go when they want to.

I haven't followed cricket all that closely this last couple of years but to me just looking at them I feel Williamson has aged the most and is the most fragile at this point.

I also think he doesn't have an ego or a chip on his shoulder to want to prove a point. So he will just call it when he thinks time is up.

Kohli arguably should have already retired.

Smith and Root still seem to have plenty in the tank.

Williamson just turned 34 apart from his injuries as he gets older he gets better at scoring 100s. Can see him going to 40 because of his technique and NZ dont play many Tests. Think if healthly he can get 45 100s, would like to see him retire from international white ball cricket and just play 20/20 leagues and Tests ( which looks like its happening)

Root is almost 34 and on schedule to catch Sachins records, remember Cook was on target until he hit the wall with fatigue. So can see the same with Root especially with the amount of Tests they play

Kohli and Smith are around 36 and are hand eye players, so its no suprise that of the Fab Four they are the first to show signs of decline.

Unless injuries I'd guess Williamson will be the last one playing, then Root. Smith and Kohli could be done after this series, or they could go 2 more years.

Williamson has the easiest schedule but he's also the most likely to be swayed by IPL cash. He's already declined a central contract and may end up pulling a Boult.
He's not a prize pick tbf in the IPL though.

Obviously their are other leagues , but nonetheless can't see anyone splashing the cash for him.
