It can be interpreted as Murali > Warne because some situations 00s SL (maybe not SL tbh) and Aus are placed in only one spinner is requisite; and whether the preferred spinner is Murali or Warne depends on specific circumstances such that Warne is occasionally preferred over Murali for SL and Murali occasionally preferred over Warne for Aus.

Therefore Murali > Warne as Murali is the best player to miss out in certain circumstances.

Warne couldn't always make the Aussie XI ahead of MacGill (WI 99). Was Murali ever dropped/"rested" by SL?

Genuinely it'd be insane. They could bowl an entire session anywhere in the world. Warne letting it rip, Murali frustrating the batsman into not getting a chance to score off him (and letting the odd one rip and go the other way), and then a fresh McGrath coming in every now and then.

Yeah playing Murali in Australia with Warne would've been legit dumb but there's no way you're leaving out Gavaskar for Jardine or Mead because he's an opener.
