I get that but in the 90s he had genuine great numbers comparable with Ambrose and others, even if one wants to argue the others are a bit better. In his peaks he took 240 wickets in 48 tests@20. So anyone rating him the bowler of the decade isn't guilty of some misguidance per se.
Between which time period

Yeah I may not have used the correct wording re: the time period but meh.

Wasim averages 19 in Australia and 25 in England which is surprising since aus had best batting in world and eng had avg batters while he averages 39 and 41 in wi and sa. Most surprising is wasim averages worst during this period when he is captain
SA is a single match though. I don't like talking about averages from a single match.

Wasim Akram is a great bowler. It’s just that I feel there are a ten fast bowlers I would consider better than him.

Wasim in 93 had a bad series in WI when offfield issues affected him. A captaincy revolt. He deserves the sore spot there.

Eng he bowled really well both series. SA was one test and a good series at home in 97.

30 years later nothing much has changed in Pakistan. My admiration for Imran Khan is increasing since he was able to keep that team under his control.
After Imran ruled for a decade as captain (Javed only when he was absent), Pakistan in the next decade had Miandad, Rameez, Malik, Sohail, Wasim, Waqar, Anwar and others as captain in the next decade in the 90s. No.1 reason for not living to their potential IMO.

Sometimes I feel there is very little that separates the top bowlers. I can see the argument for the bowlers in the same tier.
