I wonder what you'd do if your twins show any signs of affinity for the Scousers?GeraintIsMyHero said:Having said that, some families follow a religion, and their children are brough up to strongly follow what is preached. My Dad was a bit like that, as such since a very young age I have despised Manchester United, and very little could ever change that.

I'd imagine that it's fairly easy to hate Ronaldo, in particular.aussie said:really how can you hate Manchester United & talented blokes like Rooney & Ronaldo, come on now..
So does warfare. Not a big fan of that either.Tom Halsey said:I'd imagine that it's fairly easy to hate Ronaldo, in particular.
I find it somewhat difficult to justify hating United as a club, however; it has an extremely rich history.
That's a slightly different proposition altogether, though.BoyBrumby said:So does warfare. Not a big fan of that either.
Agreed, I was deliberately using a ridiculous example to suggest that "an extremely rich history" isn't necessarily the best reason for someone not to hate something.Tom Halsey said:That's a slightly different proposition altogether, though.
That's fair enough, but in United's case I think it is. I'll reiterate, I can perfectly understand why you'd hate certain figures at United (such as Ronaldo) but I can't really understand hating the club.BoyBrumby said:Agreed, I was deliberately using a ridiculous example to suggest that "an extremely rich history" isn't necessarily the best reason for someone not to hate something.
Because you have to live in Essex to support them, that's why.Tom Halsey said:That's fair enough, but in United's case I think it is. I'll reiterate, I can perfectly understand why you'd hate certain figures at United (such as Ronaldo) but I can't really understand hating the club.
United do have a lot of supporters in Manchester, just they have more than anyone else in other parts of the country, too.Samuel_Vimes said:Because you have to live in Essex to support them, that's why.
Of a random team in an inferior sport?roseboy64 said:I'm sensing some jealousy maybe...
Not just this country either TBF. United pioneered the mass-marketing of the club & have been very successful at it. Sadly for football they've been so successful that every other Prem club now sees this as the blueprint for success too. Witness all the foreign investors now circling like sharks scenting blood.Tom Halsey said:United do have a lot of supporters in Manchester, just they have more than anyone else in other parts of the country, too.
Ronaldo? Are you having a laugh?aussie said:Blokes like Beckham & now Ronaldo have got the females into football which is good..
