That date means nothing to cricket tbh
I think he was going by average runs per wicket shifting on either side of that date. Roughly, of course. There was actually a Test match between Zimbabwe and South Africa that concluded on that day, and that series had a Test after that also, so not sure which side of the divide those matches would fall, lol.
