This is just a ridiculous thread. Anyone who doesn't think Kaspa deserves his spot is crazy! The guy is a workhorse, who has been a CONSISTENT performer for many years. Here is some proof why he should be chosen:

Ok, but not a great record. Is yet to put two good seasons back to back mainly due to injury. His form this year in the one day version has been mixed, one good game against N.S.W. where he took 2/27 (10) has been between some very expensive spells.

His first-class record is not all that great, and he proved he cannot bowl in the longer version of the game with his pathetic performances in the test matches against India this year. He is injured at the moment, and will probably play ODIs again for Australia in the future, but he should put that baggy green in a bank volt and throw away the key.
Matthew Nicholson (N.S.W.)

A couple of years ago the second slip needed wicket keeping gloves to take Nicholson's deliveries. Once again another bowler with a very poor OD domestic record. And could not seriously be considered.

Also has a decent OD record but nowhere close to as good as Kaspa's.

A fairly good first-class record for someone so inexperienced and you can add another 7 wicket haul he got in the current match against Victoria and a good prospect for the future. But his figures show he is not all that great in the OD game.
Shaun Tait (South Australia)

A fairly impressive record in both forms of the game, but keep in mind 8 of his 19 wickets in the OD game have been taken in one match, which makes his figures look a bit better than they are. We've seen what has happened when a player is brought in too soon, with Clarke shinning at first but starting to struggle with the extra pressure of international cricket.

An amazing record for someone who has been playing first-class cricket for over 16 seasons. He is in the form of his life and is bowling with alot of maturity and has a mass of experience. I personally think the selectors are preparing him for the test tour of Sri Lanka. He has been a stalwart of Australian cricket and deserves a consistent crack at an Australian squad.
And anyone who says that he has been given too many chances have a look at his career. He took 5 wickets against India at Bangalore to win Australia a test match and was dropped after one more match in Australia. Whereas Brett Lee struggles to take wickets in an entire Ashes series and is still retained.
I believe that Kaspa can give a good 2-3 years service to the Australian team and then guys like Rofe, Tait, and others will be ready and experienced enough to play for Australia.
The selectors have made the right decision this time.
