What does a team need to win in India?

In 2012, Swann and Panesar took a combined 37 wickets at about 26. For India, Ashwin took 14 wickets at 52.

Unfortunately, Ashwin is rarely as rubbish these days.
The pitches in 2012 were not the modern day raging turners, they were more balanced pitches and had a few flat turners. That is why there were many scores of 300 and few above 400 from both teams in that series.

Swann and Panesar would've been lethal on modern day indian pitches

Not be average England side for starters.

Only way to win in India is have batsman like S.smith make a Tons of runs.

Pick batsman who can actually play spin.

Load your team up with spiners.

Be Confident in your plans Australia was not fully Prepared or Confident in their last Tour despite being better Team.
The average England side won as many tests in India as yourselves in their most recent series?

Smith highest score was 38 and he got 145 runs in the whole series

Root got a double hundred in match winning game and scored 258 in that test.

I believe he's referring to the Australian tour prior (2016-17) where Smith made almost 500 runs with 3 centuries vs Jadeja and Ashwin. Australia lost a very very close series 2 games to 1. With a bit more luck, they could've at the very least drawn the series.

lmao someone forgot the 2016 series where Ashwin and Jadeja bowled on absolute flat pancakes and still destroyed England

The OP is a moron though.

As in India it's more about the pitches. You ain't scoring multiple hundreds if like 20/21 England series and the Aussies series this year.

All you need is 2 very simple things:

1) Take 20 wickets a Test
2) Make more runs than India make for those 20 wickets

Well, this Australia team looked set to draw against India which is why India prepared a draw pitch in the last tests.

But to win, you need at least two high quality spinners and at least two high quality players of spin and a long tail.

that series and maybe the seam friendly surfaces in bangladesh series are exceptions, but india mostly dish out turners.

Im not sure how KP and Cook would've done on these types of pitches

we also made batting friendly pitches the last time South Africa toured here. it has been a mix of both turners and batting pitches for a while in India as they keep alternating between them 2 depending on the opponent and series situation
