Just to elaborate, before long you will be typing tbh in your work emails, sending your colleagues/friends IMs saying "GAGF" and discussing the first chance theory with anyone close who cares about the great game
This is Ireland. There is noone close who cares about the great game.

I must explain, batting is the only reason I play.

I fully agree that I'd much rather watch England/Notts bowl a team out for 150, than bat for 550. But personally I'd rather score a century than take a seven-for.

The most exciting moments of bowling or batting can be considered to consist of opposition wickets and boundries. For me, it's far more important and thus exciting to to see a wicket fall (like today against Kallis, or Ponting v Flintoff in '05) then to see a well executed cover drive. As a result, I'm very much a bowling man.

The tension and excitement that I experienced this evening watching Flintoff continually beat Kallis, but Kalls looking like he'd somehow escape, until Freddie removed his off stump, gets the adrenaline and heart-rate going a lot faster than any batsman's innings could. And when I think back to my favourite cricketing memories, it's Caddick's 4 in an over at Headingley, Harmison's 7-12, Jones removing off poles at will at Trent Bride, Clarke falling to Harmison so late in the day at Edgebaston... That's what I love and cherish.

It might also be something to do with the fact that you can never relax when watching England bat...

Yeah fair enough. Have never played the game properly, but in my most recent game on the field enjoyed my 39 more than the 2 wickets I took, seems as they were both caught on the boundary

The great battles are the best to watch, Flintoff v Kallis brought back memories of Donald v Atherton, even if yorkers replaced bouncers. Great entertainment both then and today.

It's all about the characters and the unpredictability, and the battle of test cricket for me. Individual performances and team efforts can be so enjoyable to watch, regardless of the outcome or what team you support. Basically even if your favourite team lose, watching cricket played well is amazing.

Personally I'd quite like to do both. But have already done the latter twice and never come remotely close to the former, nor am likely to.
