We like the sponsors, but...

Sponsors....the necessary evil in todays sport.....

For me, it grates on me when they play the same friggin' ad over and over again.....

But, alas, we have it and I only hope that cricket does not degenerate into NFL or NBA, where the almighty dollar is what the players really play for...thats why I like the AFL and NRL salary cap......stops those big paychecks!

EDIT: Just got my century of posts as well!

^ Lol nothing beats the drinks break brought to you by Solo. That guy that skulls the Solo and then squashes his can is burnt into my memory and it ain't coming out anytime soon.

Depends which players you talk to...Trevor Barsby was offered by XXXX in Queensland's first shield final if he scored a century he would get a year's supply of XXXX beer (a carton a week). Guess what he did?...
Scored a double century winning the game for Queensland?

136 from memory. Whatever the score was it was enough to get the beer and enough to make it look like he wasn't doing it for the beer. Queenslander's IQs seem to rise a few points when beer is involved.

Deliberately got out for 99 so that he didn't feel obliged to drink that rubbish?

They make it into double figures?

Ah..but see, us Queenslander's are smarter than you think. Try saying Heineken when plastered or Budweiser. With XXXX it is easy to say, and also easy to gesture - we have both bases covered. The other states aren't too far behind. VB is nice and easy to say (although the same can't be said about the taste), Crown Larger is easy to gesture, as is Swan, Hahn is a bit harder, but at least it is one sylabul (sp).

That's what I'd do! Drinking XXXX is a fate worse than death...

I think it all tastes absolutely awful... Maybe Windhoek or Stella Artois are slightly passable....

Good eyes!

Its funny, we mention sponsering and what happens? We do exactly what the sponsers want, talk about the product and notice it
Although... probably not in the favourable light they might like ;)
