Whatever it takes!!!
I am not bothered either way, tbh.. I mean, if the award is not meant for sports, juz let it be.. I don't understand.. He has already won the HIGHEST CIVILIAN HONOR FOR A SPORTSPERSON IN INDIA, by winnin the Padma Vibhushan. Just looks like an award his fans want him to win simply because they want him to win every possible award.. :) That said, if he does win the award once they make a constitutional amendment or whatever, that is great too, because he would have totally deserved it. I am just not a big fan of having rules amended just to get the award to one person.. I think there equally eligible candidates for cricket itself if the amendment is done, and top of the list would be Kapil Dev.

I think the highest sports-honor in India.is the Khel Ratna.

Tendulkar received it way back in the nineties. (Dhoni is the only other cricket player who is an awardee).

Sachin has won every deserving award and the WC title now. I wouldnt be surprised, if freed up of all the pressure, his career gets even better. Started watchin cricket when Sachin started playing. It wont be the same when he retires, ever, despite my fav cricketer being a certain blonde bloke who spins the ball ;)

He'll play again but not until Laxman, Dravid and Tendulkar have all retired.

I would imagine Kohli will come in for the next series, either him or Yuvraj.

Ofcourse he will. He's a much better player than this series showed him out to be.Though yes, right now he will be dropped for Kohli.

Do not know what to say of him. Started of well enough but went into a deep rut. Falling to Swann so many times is inexcusable. Will make a comeback but the prospect of a bright future in whites seem pretty dim.

Pujara would have been ahead of him had he not been injured.

As for the future Kohli would probably get in ahead of him right now in the next match we play, though i would like for it to be Badrinath.

He's had a very Bell-Ashes-2005-type series - not good enough for the occasion (though, tbf, not many were) and fittingly ending on a pair. He'll be back and better, I reckon. Not to the same extent as Bell, but could end up with a decent mid-low 40s, brilliant in the subcontinent/terrible overseas career.

And remember arguing with quite a few people before the series and even before the West Indies series that he would fail in England like he did in South Africa and was told he had improved a lot.

****ing saw this coming before the West Indies series that he will perform on the tough but less bouncy and slow pitches there and then get selected for England and struggle there big time which he did except for one innings.

Btw, English Fans should be cheering on Raina as much as they can in the West Indies series as if he does well here he gets into the Indian side for England ,i think which i can see being a disaster.
I think the perception of Raina being **** against quality bowling is getting incredibly blown out of proportion by the day. You'd think he was completely destroyed in all games he played. He has 4-5 quality knocks in the few opportunities he got and shock horror sometimes new players get out cheaply when facing two opening bowlers averaging <20 for the series on a seaming track.

If it was someone who looked more talented and played only 2 substantial knocks in the opportunities provided, people would be wanking over him. If Raina plays in England, He probably won't star but he also won't disgrace himself IMO.
AWTA, he is not the best of players in tough conditions but if some guy can tough it out and improve it will be Raina.
agree with teja about the excessive panning of raina. the kid, while no star, hasn't done too badly either. did play a couple of good innings in lanka, if memory serves. dug india out a deep hole in this match.
Couldn't agree more with the general sentiment, I think the guy has a real good temperament and a thirst to improve, but I fear Anderson and Tremlett in England will be a nightmare matchup for him.

I hope he doesn't come back any time soon, as India can and should do better.
To clarify, soon is the key word. I'm not writing him off permanently.

Essentially, you don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but ffs, the baby's been in there too long and looks a bit ill.

Getting out to Swann so many times has been a surprise though.
