I am rating Murali higher as time goes. If only he had one good tour of Aus, I would not hesitate in putting him in the Marshall-Mcgrath league. However he is only behind Marshall, Mcgrath, Hadlee and Steyn for me(level with Imran and Amby).

A good series in Australia and I would say he has a case to be better than both McGrath and Marshall.

I am biased because amongst bowlers for me theres’s god and there’s Wasim Akram (and god can’t reverse swing the ball).

But frankly there’s no diff between the two as bowlers and frankly Akram has a much more complete record (Murali’s failure to make a dent in Aus or Ind is a weakness) and Wasim was a pretty handy bat

No Warne?

No. Warne never had any decent series in India(which Murali did atleast once). Also Murali dominated India at home(and an ATG Australia side- commendable. Murali’s Australia performance can be justified. Warne’s performance in India and WI can’t. Also Murali at his long peak of 90ish tests took a truckload of wickets

have a feeling that Warne had similar numbers in 2004-5 India tour
Close to but much worse WPM. Warne pretty much played 3rd fiddle to McGrath and Gillespie. I will say though that was a good series. But simultaneously, I think Warne in India 2001 is the worst series by an ATG bowler ever, especially in helpful conditions and he effectively costed Australia the series in the Chennai Test.

Yeah well, one's bowling with Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie while one with Chaminda Vaas and Malinga Bandara, but yeah not going to defend Warnie's India record, just think saying Murali had a good series in India absolving him of other failures there is silly.

Agree, atleast partially. But other thing to consider is I believe it was his only tour in peak. He made tours before his peak in pre doosra days, and after when he was pretty old. Still his India record is thrash, just better than Warny imo.
