Warwickshire releases

Trevor Penny has been captain of Mashonaland during many an English Winter, and Mashonaland would not mind seeing him come home.

The drama continues at Warwickshire has they continue the big clear out. Six players have been traded, and six in return have joined forces. There is a real Pakistani feel about the club, as six of the newbies have arrived from Karachi. This I'm sure will impress the local dairy owners.

Warwickshire have also been deciding on players futures. It looks like 10 players, including two rookies, have succured their place at the club for next season. However this leave 8 players only two spots. Certain players are obviously pretty well screwed and will be leaving. There are however are small group who may have some hope. They are:

- A.Giles,
- A.Mascarenhas
- I.Saunders
- W.Wisneski

These players are all I have left on the market and that I really need to trade. This group of four can consider themselves ****ed, and they aren't worth my time, and they will be released:

- I.Butler
- G.Chapple
- S.Manjrekar (WK)
- G.Wagg

Of coarse there are ten more players on my books but I want to keep them, so unless I get a very good offer from someone they will be staying.

Meanwhile, there will be a new edition to the support for next season. Humphrey B. Bear will entertain crowds to keep them buzzing, when teams like Surrey are in town and things get boring. Humphrey whose favourite is honey and favourite colour is yellow, will share his time evenly between television comittments and the Warwickshire Cricket Club.

Elsewhere Warwickshire are preparing to unveal plans for their new 60,000 capacity stadium in the next week.

There's nowhere in the area that could support a stadium that size, and with the crowds they get, it's not financially viable.

Whats your point?

There's no grounds (pun not intended) for Warwickshire to consider moving from Edgbaston, since there's neither the space nearby nor the money to support such a move.

As far as I know Warwickshire has nothing to do with the real Warwickshire, thus I might get together a nice little sponsorship deal and before you know it we'll buy some land around the exsisting ground and build our new stadium.

Also, I think well do fine for crowds. This season at Warwickshire, after you left, the crowds started coming back. Now we have waiting lists that back up for weeks. Its so hard to have to turn away all those little kids who would die for even a glimpse of their heroes. We can't handle the demand and this new venture will ease it considerably.

Can you stop me? NO

Apart from the fact that they were set up as Warwickshire, play at Edgbaston, AND had the Warwickshire team as the initial team?

There is no land around the stadium - it's all roads, and for some reason the Highways agency won't sell!

Also, if you're building it there, the name won't really change will it?

What about the fact that the squad still contains (before transfers because the season hasn't finished yet):

AF Giles (Now I wonder who he is...Ashley Fraiser Giles maybe? ;))

GG Wagg (Graham Wagg, young Warwickshire player in real life)

SM Pollock (Could this be a coincidence? Someone with the same initials and last name as Warwickshire's overseas player last season... )

TL Penney (Trevor Lionel Penney maybe? I vital member of Warwickshire's OD Team in real life...)

MA Wagh (and that's MA not ME and Wagh not Waugh...and there is only one player who has that last name to my knowledge in FC Cricket and guess who he plays for ;)...you guessed it...WARWICKSHIRE!)

Odd that...

We have come formed a deal with the local government and its look like the highways agency are going to have to sell. The Mayor of Birmingham saw this as a good way to pump cash into the region, so it was too gooder proposal to turn down. All the locals and fans seam impressed too.

These are the same locals who put a stop to permanent floodlights are they?

I guess they don't mind having their houses bulldozed to make way for some useless concrete mass.

Also the amount of money needed to buy one of the main roads into Birmingham maybe a bit out of your league!

They a change of heart after we went over the plans with them. We showed them how special pannels installed on the roof would keep sound inside stadium. As we have said everything has been explained to locals and they are all good with the plan.

Their house aren't going to be bulldozed. Where'd you come up with that?

We don't need the road. The plans are all set to go on the existing site.

A few inconsistencies there.

You've agreed to buy the road, but you don't need it?
The size of the current site is such that any expansion would need more land to be bought.
It's an open stadium, so how will the sound be kept inside?

Also, most of the locals don't understand English, so how did you communicate with them?
