Heart says Anwar but head says Sehwag because he had a longer career along the lines of other ATGs. Anwar was undoubtedly more of a quality bat but sadly didn't have a long enough career. Plus Sehwag has many more double tons on his resume which for an opener is important.

Yeah, Anwar was something out of Arabian Nights. Used to wield more scimitar than cricket bat. Sehwag more effective though and the most unique i.e. batshit crazy cricketing mind of the last 20 yrs.

I like Sehwag because of Strike-rate and the effect he had but Anwar was definitely the better batsman overall

Anwar had three good series against McGrath, home and away, and a good series against the strongest SA attack ever in their home. He had good records in England and NZ. He has good records, home and away, against Warne and Murali, and in India against Kumble. Plus scored at a healthy SR.

So there is no doubt in my mind he was a more quality bat than Sehwag.

Absolutely not in doubt

Give me a flat Indian pitch against a mediocre bowling attack I'll prefer Sehwag but that's about the only time
Sehwag is a better batsman than any Australia have produced in their cricket history for Asian wickets ( except Bradman). He just wasn't basher of mediocre Bowling.

Anwar averaged 20 against SA and WI? The way he is being hyped up as if he is modern Hobbs/Hutton.

Now thats just an awful take. For all we know Bradman was probably Ponting-like in India.
This is trolling game between me and @TheJediBrah . Request decent posters like you to not get in between.

He certainly was trolling when he said Sehwag bashed only mediocre bowling on flat Indian wickets. Sehwag averaged around 70 in matches involving McGrath, Murali, Akhtar, Steyn on Asian wickets.

Sehwag averaged 20, 25 and 27 in NZ, SA and Eng.

Basically, if the ball moved, he was out.
