The question isn’t who is better than the other, my point is you thinking that Boycott is clear of the 2000s guys is the issue. He isn’t. Is he better? Possibly. I’m not entirely convinced but sure, an argument can be made.

But arguing from a point of “he’s clear of them” - when he quite clearly isn’t - is part of the issue.
This is a problematic statement, I consider Boycott and Greenidge considerably superior to all of the 2000s openers bar maaaaaaaybe Smith but that isn't sure either, so I say they are clear of them, what's wrong in that?

Yea this is what I meant. Boycott is certainly closer to Sehwag and Hayden than he is to guys like Kallis and Border. And that’s how he’s rated outside of England and outside of this forum as well.

This is an actual fair stance to have, but are you English to comment on how he is rated in England?

but again, no point shoving Border and Kallis into the conversation, That won't change the fact that Sehwag and Hayden are ways off Boyc and Greenidge. You're kind of strawmanning the initial point.

I’d say he’s clearly better but not sure it’s as significant a margin as you’re claiming. I guess how big the difference between them is pretty subjective though.

you didn't answer my question tbf

But Yeah, he is clearly better, and thus being clearly better = being clear of them, just what I'm saying since the start, you don't need to try to paint a picture of bias just to end up agreeing.

Oh ok I thought you were implying there was a massive difference. Good to see we agree.
