Yea Kohli at his best was better imo but Ponting has been a lot more consistent

Kohli went through a period of two years where he was legitimately one of the worst middle order batsmen in the world. Ponting even in his painful decline was less bad.

Kohli s looked better recently though, wouldn't be surprised at all if he had a big Australia tour again.

It's the aura that's gone more than anything. The crowds still go nuts, the comms still hype him like they know they have to, but his body language simply does not represent the overwhelming self-confidence, anger, and threat of his early years. Hate to see it.
