Failed miserably.

Same in 2011. They won despite him, not because of him.
No one is going to succeed in that situation.
Sachin tried a Do or Die ( he could have stay there without losing wicket, scoring a face saving 50 or 100.. But thats not his way of playing cricket )
You need at least two fast scorers in the team to chase that big total against world's best team.

Wouldn't mind betting Viv Richards would have done a bit better than top edging a pull shot for a caught and bowled in the first over of that run chase, but we'll never know. Same with Kohli.

What we do know is the guy being extolled as the best ODI player of all time limply surrendered on the biggest stage not once but twice.

Very convenient to include 2011 when he was just another ok player.

It's why he should never be picked in AT ODI teams. He made runs when it was easy and did nothing when it mattered most on the biggest of all stages. If you're picking a team to play a WC final then the Richards, Gilchrist, Dhoni, Ponting fmd even Gambhir and Boonie are all miles ahead of him. But if you want someone to win a best of five JAMODI series for you, he's probably your guy.
Those two aren't the same - sure you could say he failed in the biggest game of them all then what about semis or QF when batting/first or second?

Ponting had the easiest platform on a belter of a track where 3 others from the same team scored 50's that day. Gilly's 140 odd in 2007 was much better. Overall Ponting's a better ODI bat, but in WC finals Gilchrist>Ponting given he also has three 50+ scores!

Yes, we won because some impostor score that fifty against Pak in semis

Basically this stat shows that bowlers win you games, especially the big ones!

Bro could you make it any more obvious that you've been crying over the 2003 final for 20 years. These excuses are hilarious. Like how are you not over it by now

2011 WC
Sachin is among only 3 players in the history of game to score runs at above 70 strike rate in WC finals in the age group 37+

2003 WC
Tell me, when Kohli scoring a century at 150 strike rate when chasing 420 against an ATG attack in WC final.

Crying over what exactly? You bring a point that he failed in a final chasing what is still the biggest score in a WC 20 years down the line, that too in a KO. Oz were the better team that won on that day & the best ODI team for at least 8-10 years. SRT's one failure in the biggest game of his life till that point doesn't make him worse than Kohli. Here's his overall innings in KO -

Any way I prefer tests these days as we've dominated Oz home/away for 6+ years now. ODI's are getting boring even for someone, like me, who hates the IPL. Too many flat pitches & too little drama, except when you have Shakib

And is that because Oz batted first on a belter & Zaheer blew the game in the first over itself? Do you wanna see how other "superstars" fared in second innings in KO chases in WC 8-)

Basically no one has more than one great/ATG innings of note & those who have more than one fifty, like Smith or Clarke, faced below bar totals while chasing!
So are you saying that under pressure Grant Elliott is better than all of them? Agree

Sachin Broke all the ODI batting records when he was in his 20s, and eventually bettered previous records by 200 or 300%.
Kohli already 35 and no major records so far.

Unlike Kohli, Sachin was relevant in many world cups.
Dude, Kohli’s already fastest to a lot of thousand run records(8K-13K). Prolly gonna overtake Sachin’s century record pretty soon as well

Anyways when Kohli scores a match winnings innings in the final this year, the knockouts debate will be shut out, cause surely Sachin’s SF knocks won’t top that?

If India make the final and he ponies up even a moderate score you'd have to put him above Chokedulkar. Man was a walking wicket when it mattered most.
Beta AB choked harder than anyone else when he averaged around 5 in the last couple of Tests against the West Indies in 1992-93 LMAO. Poor sod finally got a decent chance to win a series against the greatest side of his era but utterly **** himself scoring a pair in the deciding Test at Perth . Definition of a walking wicket when it mattered most :D.

No wonder Australia won in 1995 when the low impact plodder was no longer a part of the side.

I said major records.
Sachin broke century record at the age of 25..i think. And bettered previous record by 300%. Kohli can not even imagine those feats.
