I'd like to see it split. I really can't see how the model can sustain itself going forward if you're asking one person to do the job in all three formats - knowing that the cream of the crop aren't going to be interested in that, when they can work shorter periods of time for more $ in franchise cricket.

Between May 2026 and March 2027 we are scheduled to play 14 tests. Maybe this is a shake up with an eye to the future and the increased focus on tests.

Splitting coaches would be OK if we had a predictable schedule & less of a player overlap. The fact that we don't have a predictable schedule (outside the FTP) & that the formats are generally interspersed among each other makes it logistically challenging.

One of the reasons I've never been much of a fan of the likes of Fleming coaching while he holds onto his franchise gigs even under a split setup is that with the inconsistency of our home season, no matter which one he gets there are problems. JSK takes out his January, TSK & now SB take out his Jul-Aug, CSK takes out whatever late season bilaterals we have. If you have a head coach like that, you will need strong assistant coaches who will step up regularly.

This might be a controversial take but I think most of us could be international cricket coaches. Just tell the players they're all a lot better at cricket than us and to do what they think will work.

Andy Moles seemed to come a cropper with that approach.

Watched the rest of it, another highlight was the interview with Latham and Ajaz Patel about the test series win in India. Ajaz's reaction to the interviewer comparing him to Ritchie McCaw for battling through an injury is classic. Both the men's and women's players come across as really down to earth characters.
