*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Another soft effort from the caps.....why Chapman is there I'll never know, hoping against hope GP doesn't flatter to decieve yet again, Seifert continues his struggles despite all the PR that goes into pumping up his tyres, Softline out for a duck. Poor selections yet again the issue: NZ used to go with a host of dibbly dobblers and clayton's all-rounders in the ODI game, now it's a bunch of part time spinners and clayton's all-rounders in the T20 game.

Watched last night's game live. Guppy looking in very good touch particularly against the spinners. Devon was all right, took his time but just when he swept Rashid for couple of fours but then ran himself out. Rest just came in and went. Seifert was beaten for pace trying to clear his leg and smoke it out of the park. Phillips got a top edge trying to cut a ball too close, Chappy out to a soft one ...

Kyle wasn't able to find a proper line and length. Rest of the bowlers were good, Lockie bowling real well shows his participation in IPL is helping. Santner was good with the ball but then got out strangely to a ball that was pretty straight. Ish was quite good with the ball, bowled maybe one short ball otherwise pretty good.

Won't read too much into these warm up games to be honest. Players try all sorts of things they usually won't in a proper game.

Sounds like they have hired a call center to post **** comments on every black cap update. This is getting a bit too much now.
Haha I don't think they're paid off, but it's pretty sad that people follow the account and just spam the same stuff whenever it comes up on their feed, regardless of what the topic of the tweet is.

I understand the family significance for the Fergusons with #69 is that it's the way Lockie was conceived.

That is if I understood the health ed teacher correctly at school.

Haha. I thought that was a weird tweet. I get that it might hold significance (I'm led to believe it has to do with angels and astrology) but there was only going to be more humour found in the fact his family was in on the magic number as well

Team named for Indian test matches. Boult made himself unavailable due to bubble life as did CDG (who I wouldn't have picked anyway).

Rest of the team is fairly predictable. Ajaz and Somerville are both in the side as are Ravindra and Phillips as batting spin allrounders along with Santner so Cole McConchie misses out. Will Young is the back up batsman. There's no specialist back up keeper if Blundell gets injured the morning of a test. I wouldn't want one of our openers (Latham or Conway) or Phillips with his injury history suddenly keeping in a test so hopefully Blundell stays well.

I'm surprised they even thought of picking CDG considering his batting vs spin. That said the dude can bowl though in any condition.

As expected they just can't not pick Santner. Used to back him but don't think he deserves to play test matches till he spends time playing red ball cricket domestically and proves he's good enough to play as an all rounder. I guess if one keeps on playing for a very long time obviously there'll be an odd game he'll perform. I'd have even taken Ish ahead of Santner. At least Ish plays first class often and in fact has been scoring runs too. Would have taken Cole ahead of Santner.

Not expecting any miracles though. India is hard to beat at home.

Kane and Ross are the key. If they both have good time we may stand a very slim chance.

I’d probably still pick Boult ahead of Wagner in India. Boult went really well there in 2016.

Young would open and Latham would bat at 5, I imagine.

Young should really play these Tests tbh, seeing he's had such an active winter and this particular tour has always seemed a quite nice fit for his game. It's just a shame Taylor is the one who's had all the drama getting in some prep in the past five months. Too many Test centuries in Asia and too close to the end of a career to drop.

I'm guessing Young won't get a game unless injuries. Batting is stacked at the moment. Not sure how they are going to fit in Phillips. Going by the past selections, I guess Young, Ravindra and Phillips won't get a test.

Unless Santner bowls real bad and bats like a spud I expect us to field this team both tests

Devon
Latham
Kane
Rosco
Nicholls
Blundell
Santner
Jamieson
Southee
Somerville
Ajaz

Nah you back Howsie to have the inside oil on this, from ND whisperers. He has to relay his theories to us on Bitchute, Odysee and banned.video these days though. He can't be bothered with the big ones used by the masses, who accept the mainstream line on things at face value.
