Yeh sorry got a bit confused, just looked on the websites I bet through, they do get refunded. Was mixed up with first try scorer betting on rugby league where a bet isnt refunded if a player doesnt play.

I'll put $20 on a multi on a draw between Aus and SA ($3.50) and a draw between NZ and WI ($2.50). So $20 for $175 return ($155 profit).

Another $20 on a multi on a win to Australia against SA ($1.90) and a draw between NZ and WI ($2.50). So $20 for $95 return ($75 profit).

Another $20 on a multi on a win to SA against Aus ($3.75) and a draw between NZ and WI ($2.50). So $20 for $187.50 return ($167.50 profit).

So long as the NZ vs WI test is drawn I will make a profit, and if a SA win or a draw is the result of the Aus vs SA test, then that profit will be greater than if I simply bet on the NZ vs WI draw. Hopefully betting three times is allowed?

Well I've just lost 60 bucks. :@

The funny thing is that yesterday when chatting with Simon I accidentally made a bet for real money on the site for Hayden to score more than Ponting.

So winning $20 or so real money is decent.

$10 on Australia to win the toss (First test). $10 @ 1.90 = $19

And $50 on G. Smith to outscore R. Ponting (First test). $50 @ 2.00 = $100

$40 on M. Morkel to be leading SA bowler (Series). $40 @ 3.75 = $150

Total at risk = $100
Great start

Current odds at close of play on day one:

Australia- 1.72
South Africa- 3.60
Draw- 4.50

Am at a loss to explain how Australia are odds-on. That was South Africa's day, this pitch is a road. Having had a go at Australia at evens before the match, i'm hedging.

Wow, got to put some on that,

$15 on SA to win against Australia. $15 @ 3.60 = $54.

Will also do a multi,

$5 multi on S Harmison to be Man of the Match against India @ 23.00 AND S Tendulkar to top score for India (1st innings) @ 5.00.

So I reckon it's $5 @ 115 = $575. (Could someone confirm that's right.)

You can't do a multi where the two results affect one another. It's hard to see why in this particular case, but i'll have to always go with the bookmaker's rules to save me making more difficult judgements on it. You can put $5 on each?

Just change the Tendulkar bet into J Ryder for NZ, both @ 5.00 so it shouldn't make a difference.

$50 multi on Jamie How [$2.10] to score more runs than Ross Taylor in the first innings of the 2nd Test plus Ramnaresh Sarwan [$1.83] to score more than Ross Taylor so that's at overall odds of $3.84 x 50 = $192.

Is that acceptable or not since they are both involving Taylor?

Nope. This is a better example of the odds affecting one another. Given that How has scored more than Ross Taylor, the chance of Sarwan also scoring more than Taylor are less. Or in probability speak, they aren't independent events.

If anyone's unsure of anything, go to the Bet365 and try to place a multiple bet (you won't need an account to do this). If it's not allowed, the odds turn red when you click "multiple bet options".

Okay, Yeah that's cool.

I'll just go $50 on Sarwan to score more than Ross Taylor @ 1.83 = $91.50

$200 return for South African having a higher opening partnership than Australia, quality start, as long as Smith outscores Kallis i'll make a profit from this test. Worst I can do now is even.

If anyone's confused about their winnings, i'm listing the amount of profit rather than the profit+returned stake.

If you plan on doing it the way you suggested (take away the $800 after 4 weeks) then you have to include the stake in the return otherwise you will be taking away profits at the end of the 4 weeks.
