Twenty20 in NZ

Any 20-over game that goes in the book as a List-A limited-overs game is insane.
I hope they are few and far between.

Im not sure Deaker or Waddle would knock it...but if Martin Devlin or Brendan Telfer have a problem with something they usually go on about it for weeks.

I.e. Martin Devlin slamming NZC for their decision to drop the Boxing Day tests with no facts or figures in front of him.

How about this NZ Twenty20 team?

This is a good idea, it will definitely draw the crowds in. The Boxing Day DOI is also great, two years ago Eden Park was nearly full.

It is also an ideal opportunity for a couple of young players to get a game at against International opposition without the pressure of being a full game.

It could be tailor made for a Chris Cairns all round performance.

It's likely that Ross Taylor will play...but i'd also like to see Jesse Ryder have a crack because he would be just as exciting. He'll have to prove he's committed to the cause for Wellington though before he gets considered for higher honours.

Do you think Australia would play a different team?

At this stage, Im going to be in NZ on holiday at the time of this match.... how flukey is that? Now I've just got to make sure we're in Auckland on the 17th...

I can see it catching on in NZ. NZ sports fans are obsessed with fast paced games of sport (e.g. All Blacks, league etc) and it could boost gate takings for NZC dramatically if fans adopt this concept here. It's worked both in England & South Africa.
NZC will have to make sure that they get the ticket prices and scheduling right. Many people seem to think that $35 for an ODI is excessive. If they reckon it's a rip-off they'll stay away.

As far as scheduling goes, playing games at 6-7pm in the big stadiums might be a good idea - get all those office drones heading up to Westpac Stadium after work, charge them a tenner.

Wel if he can get off the grog and get his head straight then he can do anything.

How long does this Twenty20 game last for?

3 hours? Just thinking what time they are going to scheduled the game. Since it's at Eden Park, and not on a weekend, a 4pm or 5pm start sounds good.

In England they start them at 5.30 and finish around 8. Perfect to cath all the people who would usually go down the pub straight after work. Why not drink copious amounts of alcohol with your mates AND have the great atmosphere the games generate? Some people I hear actually watch the cricket as well...

No, they watch the Twenty20... :D
It doesn't really matter what they watch as long as they're paying and they have a good enough time to come back again and pay again.
