CW logic: "They can't be right, because I saw the stats and don't agree"No one who was around when Kallis was playing thought he was in the league as a batsman to Ricky Ponting.
True, back then I always thought Kallis was in the league above him, with Tendulkar and Lara.No one who was around when Kallis was playing thought he was in the league as a batsman to Ricky Ponting.
Really???True, back then I always thought Kallis was in the league above him, with Tendulkar and Lara.
No, he's trolling.Really???
Nah actually there was about a 2-3 year period in the mid 00’s where I was convinced Kallis was the best batsman in the world. I was quite young though (11-14ish).No, he's trolling.

After removing the penalty for high SR, Sehwag ranks at no.17 with 127.7 pts, Gilchrist ranks at no.25 with 118.7 pts and Warner moves up to no. 30 with 114.4 pts. Everything else remains unchangedI would love to see your methodology with this factor removed.
I feel that is fairer but no worries, its your method. After removing the penalty for high SR, Sehwag ranks at no.17 with 127.7 pts, Gilchrist ranks at no.25 with 118.7 pts and Warner moves up to no. 30 with 114.4 pts. Everything else remains unchanged

Excellent work, enjoyed that. No need to be disappointed, tweaking and tinkering is part of the process. There will never be a perfect system of ranking anyways. Cheers !The rankings are the result of several months of work. A bit disappointed that I posted the first countdown at a premature stage. But **** it, both was fun. Hope to see you guys soon with the ODI batsmen or test bowlers rankings.
Thank you.
The low margin is only due to longevity penalty which implicitly bakes in some form slump. I.e. Smith's form would have to TANK in order for him to go to #2. I think another couple years and smith for me is #1 (and #2 after bradman)I find your ranking system quite close to my liking esp. that it puts someone like Graham Thorpe ahead of Gilly which I find plausible the way I used to be a fan of his unsung gritty batting which was pretty consistent, also the fact that there is very little margin between Smith and Tendulkar, which, I also believe in future would see Tendulkar back at number one when once Smith's form slumps inevitably like most batsmen at the end (there's also a big part of wishful thinking there)
