Okay, here goes...
1. Tendulkar
2. Murali
3. Lara
4. Warne
5. Ambrose
6. McGrath
7. Wasim
8. Ponting
9. Dravid
10. S. Waugh
Top four separated by very little indeed...
Murali > Warne as, while Warne is an undisputed genius, I do think the fact that he played so much against England has bolstered his legend somewhat.
Tendulkar > Lara as he's been the more consistent. While I think that Lara's the more naturally gifted of the two, I also reckon Tendulkar's got the mental edge and is the finer cricketer.
As I said, those four are very very close indeed in my estimation.
Similarly, I find it very hard to split Ambrose, McGrath and Wasim...and then Ponting, Dravid and Tugga.
My next ten would include Gilchrist, Walsh, Flower, Border, Jayasuriya, Aravinda, Donald, Waqar, Thorpe and Kapil Dev. I don't think Dev did quite enough after Warne's debut to make it to the top 10, or even 15. Flintoff hasn't done nearly enough, either.
Thorpe, on the other hand, performed very well against Warne's Australia, so punches above his weight here.
Although he's better than Gilchrist right now, I don't rate Sangakkara that highly...yet. I don't see the need to have a WK in my top ten, or an all-rounder for that matter.
