Tom Latham vs Michael Vaughan

BazBall21

International Captain
Latham averages 27 against Australia, India, South Africa and England. Tail-ender figures against SA. His only hundred in the 38 tests there came on a real pudding against the least effective flat pitch attack out of those four. Averages 21 against Pakistan across the series' where they had decent pace attacks too.

Has heavily plundered soft runs against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at home, Zimbabwe, and that feeble Pakistan attack on highways ten months ago.

Averages 31 in the 56 tests outside that with just four hundreds. Half of them came against an attack of Rahat Ali, Imran Khan JR/Ehsan Adil, Zulfiqar Babar and Yasir Shah.

Very good player of spin, but I would much rather have Vaughan opening in my team. Have always suspected Latham could have been a lot better at no5 than opening.

Johan

International Debutant
Vaughan played some knocks against McGrath and Warnie that convince me he is a class above Latham as a Batsmen.

Just as batsmen and not how annoying they are after retirement? :p

I find Vaughan's career very hard to judge due to the dramatic drop off after he became captain. For 18 months or so he looked superb and his away Ashes performance in an outgunned team was quite brilliant. I like Latham, not sure he's reached those sort of peaks though.
